                                <figure class="van-image-figure pull-" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' ><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:56.25%;"><img id="RFrDFjEGi5GLXzP9JpkCHn" name="" alt="" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/RFrDFjEGi5GLXzP9JpkCHn.jpg" mos="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/RFrDFjEGi5GLXzP9JpkCHn.jpg" align="" fullscreen="" width="" height="" attribution="" endorsement="" class="pull-"></p></div></div></figure><p>Cable networks HBO, BET and OWN:Oprah Winfrey Network drew the most  2016 NAMIC Vision Awards nominations, the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications said Wednesday.</p><p>HBO notched nine nominations to lead all cable networks, while BET and OWN drew eight nominations for 22nd annual Vision Awards, which honor original and digital programming content depicting the lives, spirit and contributions of people of color, according to the diversity organization</p><p>Overall, 29 networks/distributors generated 83 nominations for NAMIC Vision Awards presented in 18 categories, said the organization. </p><p>HBO’s original movie <em>Bessie</em> and Lifetime's <em>Devious Maids</em> each drew three nominations to top all shows, according to NAMIC. </p><p>NAMIC will showcase the winning programs via an online event format, with the 2016 NAMIC Vision Awards Winners Gallery to be unveiled late April. The online awards gallery will feature :60 second clips of the winning entries in each of the 18 categories.</p><p>"At a time when diversity is at the forefront of our consciousness such as the case with the Oscars, NAMIC remains committed to recognizing achievements in ethnically and culturally relevant programming," said Eglon E. Simons, president and CEO, NAMIC in a statement. The Vision Awards, which honor achievements in original programming diversity across multiple platforms, were awarded in 16 programming categories.</p><p>Among the winners were Showtime’s <em>Masters of Sex</em> as best drama, with Michael Kenneth Williams winning the best performance in a drama series award for his role in HBO’s <em>Boardwalk Empire</em>.</p><p>Lifetime’s <em>Devious Maids</em> was the winner in the best comedy category with actors Raúl Castillo (HBO’s <em>Raúl Castillo: Looking)</em> and Don Cheadle (Showtime’s <em>House Of Lies</em>) tying for best comedy performance.</p><p>Also tying in the "Original Movie or Special" category were CNN’s <em>Documented</em> and Lifetime’s <em>The Trip to Bountiful</em>.</p><p>An awards gallery featuring :60 second clips of the winning programs in each of the 16 categories can be viewed by visiting <strong><a href="http://namicvisionawards.com">http://namicvisionawards.com</a></strong></p><p>“Congratulations are extended to all of the 2015 NAMIC Vision Award winners,” said Raquel Williams, president, NAMIC – Southern California and director, Distribution, Crown Media Family Networks in a statement. “Since the awards’ inception in 1994, NAMIC – Southern California in collaboration with NAMIC National has remained committed to this initiative with the shared goal of fostering programming diversity.                                 <p>Saddled with lackluster ratings, Lifetime has dropped drama series, The Lottery, after its first season.</p><p>The original series, which averaged only <a href="http://deadline.com/2014/10/the-lottery-cancelled-lifetime-854258/">700,000 viewers on live + same-day basis</a>, concluded its 10-episode run on Sept. 28.</p><p>With the cancellation, Lifetime’s roster now features three scripted series entries, <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/lifetime-asks-more-maid-service-384242" data-original-url="https://www.multichannel.com/news/lifetime-asks-more-maid-service-384242"><em>Devious Maids</em>, which will return for a 13-episode, third season in 2015</a>, plus newcomers <em>UnREAL</em> and <em>Damien</em>, <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/lifetime-orders-damien-six-episode-series-383358" data-original-url="https://www.multichannel.com/news/lifetime-orders-damien-six-episode-series-383358">a six-episode adaptation</a> of the demonic, theatrical franchise.</p><p>A pilot order for a take on Jean M.                                 <p>Lifetime has ordered a third season of <em>Devious Maids</em></p><p>Based on the telenovela <em>Ellas son… la alegría del hogar,</em> the third season will bow in 2015 with 13 new episodes.</p><p>The drama is produced by ABC Studios and is executive produced by Marc Cherry and Eva Longoria.</p><p>“We are thrilled to be bringing <em>Devious Maids</em> back for another season,” said Lifetime executive VP and general manager Rob Sharenow. “Marc Cherry has created a uniquely twisted world that blends his comic wit with devilishly ingenious characters and plot twists.”</p>
