                                <p>Indiana Rep. Jackie Walorski, 58, a former TV reporter in South Bend, Indiana, has died in a car crash, <a href="https://wsbt.com/news/local/three-dead-one-critically-injured-in-elkhart-county-crash">according to WSBT-TV</a>.</p><p>The South Bend station reported that three others died in the head-on collision, including Walorski&apos;s communications director Emma Thomson, and Zachery Potts, her district director, who were both riding in the car with Walorski. The driver of the other vehicle also died.</p><p>Walorski&apos;s twitter account issued the following tweet Wednesday:</p><div class="see-more see-more--clipped"><blockquote class="twitter-tweet hawk-ignore" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Dean Swihart, Jackie’s husband, was just informed by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s office that Jackie was killed in a car accident this afternoon. Walorski and her staffers, Zachery Potts and Emma Thomson," said National Association of Broadcasters President Curtis LeGeyt. "As a former broadcaster, Rep. Walorski had a first-hand appreciation for the importance of local radio and television stations to her constituents, and we greatly valued working with her to improve the lives of Indianans and the American people. NAB and broadcasters everywhere extend our deepest sympathies to her loved ones, friends and staff.”</p><p>The White House said it would fly its flags at half-staff Wednesday and Thursday in honor of Walorski.</p><p>"Born in her beloved South Bend as the daughter of a meat-cutter and firefighter, she spent a lifetime serving the community that she grew up in – as a journalist, a nonprofit director, a state legislator, and eventually as a Member of Congress for the past nine and half years," said the President.</p><p>Flags will also fly at half-staff  at the Capitol. ■</p>

"Michelle and I join millions of fans from around the world in mourning the sudden death of Prince. Few artists have influenced the sound and trajectory of popular music more distinctly, or touched quite so many people with their talent. As one of the most gifted and prolific musicians of our time, Prince did it all. Funk. R&B. Rock and roll. He was a virtuoso instrumentalist, a brilliant bandleader, and an electrifying performer.</p><p>"'A strong spirit transcends rules,' Prince once said -- and nobody's spirit was stronger, bolder, or more creative," President Obama continued. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his band and all who loved him.”</p><p>Several cable networks also released statements on the his passing. BET released a statement saying the news “weighs heavily on our hearts,” adding that he was a “musical prodigy, a beautiful spirit and fashion provocateur who influenced American culture.” BET Chair and CEO Debra Lee took to Twitter, writing, "Saddened by the death of @Prince, a dear friend of mine & entire @BET family. Rest in Power, Purple King. #RIPPrince”</p><p>BET founder Robert L. Johnson also paid homage to Prince: "I will miss his idiosyncratic and quirky ways which fascinated me during the times we met when I was running BET, and of course his indelible imprint on the world of music. Purple Rain is falling all over the world today!"</p><p>MTV, which plans to refer to Prince’s death during its <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/upfronts-2016-mtv-turns-volume-404349" data-original-url="https://www.multichannel.com/news/upfronts-2016-mtv-turns-volume-404349">upfront presentation</a> Thursday afternoon in New York and was airing the performer's music videos all afternoon, said in a statement it is “heartbroken and in utter disbelief at the news that the world has lost Prince Rogers Nelson so suddenly and so before his time."</p><p>"Prince was a once-in-a-lifetime artist who transcended every medium and genre he touched and created music with a passion and individuality that inspired multiple generations," the network said. According to NJ.com, a PSE&G electric utility crew investigating a report of a blown fuse in the area found the unresponsive Alfaro on a ladder leaning against a utility pole. They called police and medical emergency personnel who retrieved the Comcast worker from the ladder, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.</p><p>The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is currently investigating the incident, but a report on <a href="http://www.northjersey.com/news/environment/authorities-investigating-death-of-utility-worker-in-glen-ridge-1.1265595">NorthJersey.com</a> said Borough officials indicated Alfaro’s death may have been due to electrocution.</p><p>"All of us at Comcast are deeply saddened by this tragic news and we extend our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to our employee's family and friends," a Comcast spokesman said in a statement.</p>

                                <p>Edward Herrmann, who starred as Richard Gilmore in <em>Gilmore Girls</em> and won an Emmy for his guest starring role on <em>The Practice</em>, died Wednesday morning in New York City. He was 71.</p><p>The longtime actor died from a stage IV glioblastoma brain tumor, which he had been battling for a year, his manager Robbie Kass confirmed to <em>B&C</em> in an email.</p><p>Herrmann was reportedly in intensive care for nearly a month before his family decided to take him off a respirator, <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2014/12/31/edward-herrmann-dead-gilmore-girls/">according to TMZ</a>, which was first to report of the actor’s death.</p><p>The Washington, D.C. born thespian appeared throughout <em>Gilmore Girls</em>’ seven-season run.
