Streaming television company Cinedigm said it picked Mediagenix‘s Whats‘On platform to manage its portfolio of ad-supported streaming television channels.

“Mediagenix has a long track record of success in powering content workflows for both traditional broadcast and satellite/cable-based channels, as well as streaming services,“ Cinedigm chief technology officer Tony Huidor said. ”We look forward to utilizing their Whats’On platform to streamline and significantly scale our content programming workflow.”

“Specifically, we intend to leverage the Whats’On platform’s extensive programming capabilities to more efficiently manage and schedule our significant content portfolio and rapidly growing number of ad-supported FAST channels in a more efficient and automated manner,“ Huidor said. “This is an important step in further spurring Cinedigm’s rapidly evolving FAST business, so we are excited to partner with MediaGenix to help scale our FAST portfolio.”

Whats’On will be used to handle scheduling and optimizing programming for Cinedigm‘s Dove Channel, CONtv and Docurama.

YouTube TV has launched three premium channels from Cinedigm as add-ons.

Cinedigm’s Dove Channel, ConTV and Docurama are available for $4.99 a month each.

Cinedigm has been expanding its streaming business with a collection of both subscription VOD services and ad-supported channels.

Earlier this month, Cinedigm announced the launch of the Elvis Presley Channel as an ad-supported VOD and linear streaming service.

Docurama features documentaries including Gangster Empire: Rise of the Mob, Beatles: How the Beatles Changed the World & Rick Steves’ Europe.

Dove Channel provides family-friendly television series and movies. Titles include classic films like Abbott and Costello, young adult series H2O: Just Add Water and faith favorites such as I’m in Love With a Church Girl.

ConTV focuses on action, thrillers, anime, science fiction and fantasy content, with films including Acceleration, 4GOT10 and Anna.

YouTube TV is one of the biggest of the virtual multichannel video programming distributors, offering more than 80 channels for a base price of $64.99 a month. It is currently offering new users a rate of $54.99 for their first three months.

thePlatform, the Comcast-owned online video publisher, has landed a deal to supply the cloud-based video management system powering two new OTT channels from Cinedigm -- CONtv and the Dove Channel. 

Cinedigm, a distributor and aggregator of independent content, is using thePlatform’s flagship backend platform, mpx, for CONtv, a joint venture of Cinedigm and Wizard World geared toward the Comic Con community, and the Dove Channel, a new family-friendly digital network from The Dove Foundation. 

CONtv is being offered free under an ad-supported streaming model, as well as a premium subscription option for $6.99/month that includes exclusive access to Comic Con events, panels, talent, and other related content. Programs in its library include Voltron, Hellraiser, and Stargate Infinity. 

The Dove Channel is set to launch this fall, and will feature series, shows and movies such as VeggieTales, Fraggle Rock, and Where the Red Fern Grows. 

Those services will be accessible on several platforms, including Web browsers, Roku boxes, iOS and Android devices, Xbox consoles and Samsung devices.
