It’s Tinseltown’s awards season and In Demand is serving up an array of contenders for this year’s statues and great movies past.

Currently on or premiering on Movies on Demand in February are Oscar-nominated titles including Boyhood, The Theory of Everything, Whiplash, Guardians of the Galaxy, Nightcrawler and many more, while March brings Foxcatcher, Into the Woods, Unbroken, The Imitation Game, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and others.  (List of nominated films now playing or coming soon to MOD below.)

Besides the new release titles, Movies On Demand has curated a very rich selection of more than 100 of the most acclaimed winning films of all time, available to cable viewers from now through March 9 (See partial list of titles below).

In the spirit of the Academy Award season and as a means to trigger usage, many systems are featuring free on demand awards-related programs, notably exclusive interviews with current nominees, both on set-top and online. Once again,  “Contender Conversations” can be found  on systems in the On Demand folders, system websites or on   http://www.modawardsseason.com during Awards Season 2015. Through a partnership with the best-known independent film website Indiewire, these intimate star and director interviews were captured by Movies On Demand cameras at major film festivals throughout the year.

Highlights this year include discussions with actors, directors and composers, such as Patricia Arquette, Ethan Hawke, Eddie Redmayne, Steve Carell, J.K. Simmons, Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, Jake Gyllenhaal and Channing Tatum.

Working with Jolly Time Pop Corn, In Demand is encouraging movie buffs to host a pool, centering around the awards pool manager. Viewers can sign up individually in our national pool or host a private one, where friends can mark their ballots and have the results automatically tabulated as the show progresses. InDemand Productions is at the2014 Toronto International Film Festival to film celebrity interviews in partnership with Indiewire, as a means to help stoke buys for films in their video-on-demand window.

The production arm of the pre-eminent distributor of transactional movies to Movies On Demand on cable is shooting these interviews at TIFF that will be edited and distributed to top cable providers, including Xfinity (Comcast), Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications and Bright House Networks to help them drive customer awareness and buys of these titles when they hit the VOD window. This promotional content gets participating films added exposure during their MOD premieres. 

All told, the interviews can be seen in over 50 million homes, either through cable barker channels, system websites, in social media and other digital outlets, such as an InDemand's ongoing partnership with independent film website Indiewire.

Within the past year alone, the company sat down with over 100 stars, including some of Tinseltown's toniest, Cate Blanchett, Sir Ben Kingsley, Paul Rudd, Daniel Radcliffe, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Salma Hayek, Nicolas Cage and the cast of Game of Thrones. InDemand's “Contender Conversations” interview series was a cornerstone of the cable industry’s 2014 Awards Season MOD marketing campaign.

Since 2012, In DemandProductions has covered TIFF, South by Southwest, AFI Fest, Comic-Con International, New York Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, plus many red carpet premieres and junkets to shoot promotional videos which support films’ VOD airings on behalf MOD on cable nationwide. The division produces interviews from on-site studios, during bi-weekly NYC shoots and via international mobile production services.
