On the heels of HBO Max's Thanksgiving day Love, Lizzo documentary, the streaming service announced a December concert special featuring the Grammy-winning artist.

The Lizzo: Live in Concert special will stream New Year's Eve (December 31) and will feature the Emmy and Grammy winner performing her hits, along with special guests Cardi B, SZA and Missy Elliott, said HBO Max.

The streaming service's Love, Lizzo documentary airing November 24 focuses on the life of the singer, songwriter, rapper, flutist and actress, and looks at her humble beginnings to her meteoric rise with an intimate look into the moments that shaped her hard-earned rise to fame, success, love and international stardom, according to HBO Max.■ 

AXS TV will serve as the exclusive television outlet for the 2020 Farm Aid benefit music festival premiering Sept. 26, the network announced Monday (Aug. 31). 

The three-hour Farm Aid 2020 On the Road virtual concert, which looks to raise funds and awareness for America’s hardworking farmers, will feature new and classic performances from more than 20 artists including John Mellencamp, Neil Young and Dave Matthews, Black Pumas, Bonnie Raitt, Boz Scaggs and Willie Nelson and The Boys, said the network.

“AXS TV is proud to continue our strong partnership with Farm Aid, in support of their invaluable efforts to benefit and uplift America’s vital farming community,” said Lucia McCalmont, VP of programming and scheduling, AXS TV in a statement. “Our viewers look forward to these exclusive Farm Aid broadcasts each year, and we are excited to have the opportunity to share the 2020 virtual at-home event with our audience, bringing them more of the up-close coverage, iconic artists, and unforgettable performances that only Farm Aid and AXS TV can provide.” 

Global Citizen said that it plans a virtual concert to support the development and distribution of COVID-19 tests and treatments on June 27.

Global Goal: Unite for Our Future--The Concert will be carried in the U.S. by Roku, NBC, MTV, YouTube, Twitter, Twitch and Yahoo! 

The lineup of performers will be announced June 22, Global Citizen said.

Last month Global Citizen and the European Commission announced the Global Goal: Unite for our Future Campaign and celebrities including Adam Lambert, Chloe X Halle, Chris Rock, Coldplay, Dionne Warwick, Femi Kuti, Fher of Maná, Hugh Jackman, Idris & Sabrina Elba, J Balvin, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Lang Lang, Miley Cyrus, Padma Lakshmi, Rachel Brosnahan, and Shakira enlisted to support the program.

In April, Global Citizen’s One World: Together at Home concert featuring Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez and others raised more than $127 million for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for The World Health Organization.

According to Nielsen, 20.7 million viewers tuned into the two hour broadcast special across multiple networks including ABC, NBC, ViacomCBS networks, The CW, and iHeartMedia.

According to Alphonso, 45% of all live TV viewers in the U.S. tuned into the special.

Globally, it was seen by more than 270 million people

Internationally, the June 27 concert will be carried by ARD, Canal+ and RTVE in Europe; Bell Media, CBC, Citytv and GlobalTV in Canada; Globo Group in Brazil; Multichoice Group and SABC in Africa and Fuji TV in Asia.

HBO will tape the much anticipated Beyonce and Jay Z On The Run concert tour to air in September, the network announced during its Television Critics Association summer tour.

The network will tape the concert’s Sept. 12 and Sept. 13 concerts from Paris to air during an as yet determined date in September, according to the network. The On The Run Tour marks the first collaborative tour for the two musical superstars and will feature more than 40 songs.

“This is a major musical event that belongs on HBO,” said HBO president Michael Lombardo in a statement. “It’s going to be a night to remember.”
