Continuing to seize attention through a hodgepodge of programming pickups, Tubi has licensed all 15 seasons of the aughts-era NBC reality hit The Apprentice.

The deal with MGM Television makes Tubi the exclusive home for the Mark Burnett-produced show, which ran in NBC prime time from 2004-2017 and featured for the first 15 seasons Donald Trump as the stern overseer and judge of a panel of young business wannabes and also celebrity business wannabes.

Tubi’s deal follows last week’s announcement that it picked up FX’s Charlie Sheen series, Anger Management, for an exclusive window. The free-to-consumer platform also recently licensed The Bachelor. Tubi booked $25 million in additional financing in January, specifically earmarking the funds for content acquisition. Tubi has said it will plunge “nine figures” into upcoming content acquisitions.

“In our quest to democratize content and make more premium content accessible, we are making a big push into the reality television space,” said Farhad Massoudi, CEO of Tubi, in a statement. “The Apprentice is our second big series announcement this month, and we will have more in the near future.”

Cobb's firm also has a strong communications practice.

Lanny Davis, former special counsel to President Bill Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky scandal that resulted in impeachment proceedings, had some crisis management advice for Cobb in an op ed: "Tell it early, tell it all, tell it yourself."

Davis said Clinton agreed with that proactive strategy and that Cobb will need Trump to "authorize [Cobb] to call in all reporters, with all the relevant documents, dump them in the middle of a conference room, and tell them: Read them, ask me all your questions, and go write."

That sounds like a tall order for a current president who continues to attack negative stories as "fake news" that is a threat to the Republic.

Such dishonesty!," Trump tweeted.

The reports followed the testimony of FBI director James Comey that his agency has for several months been investigating whether there were such contacts, and a story Wednesday night by CNN that cited unnamed "U.S. officials" that the FBI had information "that indicates associates of President Donald Trump communicated with suspected Russian operatives to possibly coordinate the release of information damaging to Hillary Clinton's campaign," saying that was, in part, what Comey was referring to.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, has said there is "more than circumstantial evidence" of collusion that is "worthy of investigation."

This week FCC chairman Ajit Pai said he did not think the media were the enemy of the American people, as President Trump has alleged, but added that the president appeared to be talking about "fake news."

Related: Trump Brands Media 'Enemy of the American People'

The Urban Dictionary now defines “fake news” as “a term formerly useful for describing websites consisting entirely of intentionally fabricated news stories, but now used to describe virtually anything that does not mesh with one's own views.”

That hearing is scheduled for March 27.

The Dodgers network was launched in 2014 by Time Warner Cable and faced immediate opposition from distributors who said the channel was too pricey. Time Warner Cable – which was purchased by Charter Communications in May – had reportedly paid the team $7 billion-to $8 billion for the rights to carry games for 25 years and guaranteed the monthly subscriber license fee, even if other distributors refused to carry the channel.

The Dodgers, which own the network that is managed by TWC, reportedly were charging $5 per month per subscriber for the channel, making it one of the priciest RSNs in the country. To date, only Charter is carrying the network.

The Justice Dept. sued DirecTV in November, alleging that the satellite carrier (which was purchased by AT&T in July 2015) had colluded with other distributors to not carry the channel. The suit singled out DirecTV vice president of programming Dan York and then-DirecTV CEO Mike White as sharing sensitive pricing information concerning the network with other distributors and agreeing not to cherry-pick customers from rivals.
