Perhaps the third time will be the charm, as Nexstar Broadcasting Group has given Dish Network a third extension in their retransmission-consent negotiations.

The station group's agreement with the nation's No. 2 satellite provider encompasses some 60 network affiliaes and local stations in 46 markets around the country.

The parties' contract was originally set to expire on Dec. 5 at 11:59 p.m. (ET). A second extension, which has kept the stations available to Dish subscribers, was granted through tonight, Dec. 9 at 11:59 p.m. Now, Nexstar has pushed the new deadline until Wednesday at the aforementioned time. 

Nexstar said it has been negotiating in good faith to establish a mutually agreeable contract with Dish. In its release, Nexstar said it remains hopeful that a resolution can be reached without a service interruption to viewers in affected markets.

Dish immediately couldn't be reached for comment at press time.

A retrans scorecard shows that CBS granted Dish a third extension before pulling station signals for around 12 hours last Friday night into Saturday morning. The parties subsequently reached a new accord that also included CBS's cable properties.
