                                <p><a href="https://www.nexttv.com/tag/cnn">CNN</a> has teamed with <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/tag/lebron-james">LeBron James</a><a href="https://www.nexttv.com/tag/lebron-james">’</a>s The SpringHill Co. to develop a docuseries on the history of black television, debuting July 9.</p><p>The five-part <em>See It Loud: The History of Black Television</em> will celebrate the achievements of Black actors and creators, while examining the historical impact Black culture has had on all culture, according to the network. The series looks at Black television&apos;s origins through such series and sitcoms as the <em>The Jeffersons</em> and dramas like <em>Roots</em>, and explores emerging opportunities for Black voices in sci-fi, horror and unscripted genres, said CNN. </p><p><br></p><div class="youtube-video" data-nosnippet ><div class="video-aspect-box"><iframe data-lazy-priority="high" data-lazy-src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/Rasj6vptlA0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div></div><p><em>See It Loud: The History of Black Television</em> will feature appearances by Anika Noni Rose, Debbie Allen, Gabrielle Union, Jimmie Walker, Lynn Whitfield, Mo’Nique, Omari Hardwick, Tatyana Ali, Tisha Campbell and Vivica A. Fox, said CNN.</p><p>The series is executive produced by James, Maverick Carter, Amy Entelis, Lyle Gamm, Jodi Gomes, Jamal Henderson and Philip Byron.</p>

                                <p>Fuse Media, the <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/latino-management-group-buys-control-of-fuse-media"><u>Latino-owned entertainment company</u></a><u>,</u> said it is launching Fuse Beat, a Black-culture focused streaming channel, with Quincy Newell’s Twentyone14 Media and <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/cinedigms-streaming-strategy-starts-to-pay-off"><u>Cinedigm</u></a>.</p><p>Fuse Beat is designed to provide a diverse and inclusive portrayal of the world with a curated selection of movies, fan favorite series, award-winning docs, music and comedy performances, the companies said.</p><p>It will be available first later this month on Fuse.tv. The company expects to announce distribution deals with third-party streaming platforms in the coming weeks.</p><p>For Fuse Media, Fuse Beat is the third channel it has launched this year, f<a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/fuse-launches-streaming-unit-heading-into-upfront"><u>ollowing Fuse Backstage and Fuse Sweat</u></a> in March. </p><p>“As we continue to build our streaming portfolio, we are thrilled to be debuting Fuse Beat with such impressive partners in Cinedigm and Quincy Newell, and with a lineup of premium series, movies and docs that feature authentic and entertaining storytelling,” said Fuse head of digital Patrick Courtney.</p><p>Twentyone14 produces and distributes digital content and distribution company that connects creatives of colors with specialized audiences that is led by Quincy Newell.</p><p>“Our mission was to develop a product that authentically represents the multi-dimensional nature of the black experience. I’m excited to have found a partner in Fuse Media that embraced this vision and the need to create vehicles that represent the culture and all of its diversity,” said Newell.</p><p><a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/cinedigm-twentyone14-set-multi-cultural-streaming-net"><u>Twentyone14 and Cinedigm last year announced plans</u></a> to start a multicultural streaming network in the first quarter. </p><p>Fuse Beat programming will include series <em>Partners </em>starring Martin Lawrence; <em>Women of Brewster Place</em> with Oprah Winfrey, <em>1-800-Missing </em>and <em>film Dear White People.</em> </p><p>It will also have original Fuse series including <em>T-Pain’s School of Business</em>,<em> Hop-Hop Houdini </em>with Tomas D. De la Cruz and <em>Ready or Not,</em> the story of 17-year-old Marcel McClinton.</p><p>In May and June Fuse Beat will also feature titles including: <em>Good Hair, In the Mix, Premium, Never 2 Big, Caught Up, Held Up, Standing in the Shadows of Motown, Brooklyn Babylon, Full Clip, Leprechaun V: In the Hood, Leprechaun VI: Back 2 Tha Hood, State Property, Champs, Traitor, Like Water, Thunder Soul </em>and <em>More Than a Game. </em></p>

                                <p>HBO will develop a documentary series on the history of Black television produced by actress Issa Rae, the network said Wednesday.</p><figure class="van-image-figure pull-" data-bordeaux-image-check ><div class='image-full-width-wrapper'><div class='image-widthsetter' ><p class="vanilla-image-block" style="padding-top:56.25%;"><img id="xvEjWMsFhQortibjdfh7B9" name="" alt="" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/xvEjWMsFhQortibjdfh7B9.jpg" mos="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/xvEjWMsFhQortibjdfh7B9.jpg" align="" fullscreen="" width="" height="" attribution="" endorsement="" class="pull-"></p></div></div></figure><p>The two-part documentary, <em>Seen & Heard,</em> explores the history of Black Television as seen through the eyes of trailblazers who wrote, produced, created and starred in groundbreaking series of the past and present, said network officials. Rae (Insecure) will serve as executive producer on the series along with Phil Bertelsen (<em>Who Killed Malcolm X?</em>), who also serves as director on the documentary series. </p><p>"Black people have such a rich, but often unacknowledged history in Hollywood," Rae said in a statement. "We have defined American culture and influenced generations time and time again across the globe. I'm honored to pair with Ark Media to center and celebrate the achievements of those who paved a way for so many of us to tell our stories on television."</p><p>In addition, HBO has secured Mark and Jay Duplass to produce <em>The Lady and The Dale </em>documentary series exploring a 1970s auto scam centered around mysterious entrepreneur Elizabeth Carmichael, the network said. </p><p>In other documentary news, the network announced dates for its upcoming documentary slate including <em>The Vow</em> (Aug. 23) and <em>Yusuf Hawkins: Storm Over Brooklyn</em> (Aug. 12). HBO also announced a slate of weekly, crime-focused documentary films to debut this Fall including <em>Crazy, Not Insane, Baby God, The Mystery of DB Cooper, Alabama Snake, and The Art of Political Murder.</em></p><p>Other documentaries include <em>The Soul of America</em>, which explores that challenges of America’s past including the women’s suffrage movement, the incarceration of Japanese Americans, McCarthyism and the struggle to pass Civil Rights legislation of the 1960s; <em>Transhood</em>, which chronicles the lives of four young people and their families as they navigate growing up transgender in America’s heartland; and <em>Siempre, Luis</em>, which portrays the life of New York politician Luis A. Miranda Jr. </p>
