Billy Bob Thornton win the first Golden Globes award in television category with a surprise win for his starring role in Amazon’s freshman drama series Goliath.

Thornton, who plays Billy McBride, a down and out lawyer in the legal series, won the Best Performance by An Actor in a Television Series over such formidable opponents as Rami Malek (Mr. Robot), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Matthew Rhys (The Americans) and Liev Schrieber (Ray Donovan.)

FX's adaptation of Fargo won cable's first Golden Globe at the 72nd Annual Hollywood Foreign Press Awards show, bringing home the trophy for best TV miniseries or movie.

The show topped Starz's The Missing and HBO's trio of True Detective, The Normal Heart and Oliver Kitteridge.

FX and Fargo quickly doubled their total as Billy Bob Thonton took home the Globe for best actor in a TV miniseries or movie. Thornton, who kept his acceptance, short and safe from getting him in any trouble, topped fellow Fargoer Martin Freeman, HBO's initial True Detective duo of Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, and Mark Ruffalo for the premium network's The Normal Heart.

Hulu To Stream ‘Fargo’

Hulu has secured exclusive streaming rights to FX’s freshman series Fargo as part of a distribution deal between the two companies.

The deal grants Hulu exclusive streaming rights to the first season of the Emmy-Award winning miniseries, starring Billy Bob Thornton, which will be available to Hulu Plus subscribers in 2015 prior to the debut of the show’s second season.

The announcement comes on the heels of a Hulu/FX Networks deal that includes streaming rights several of the network’s top series including freshman shows The Strain and Tryant.

“After announcing our landmark output deal with FX Productions yesterday, this expanded partnership with MGM brings even more hit titles to Hulu,” said Craig Erwich, Senior Vice President and Head of Content, Hulu said in a statement.
