Fox News on Monday said it is revamping its daytime lineup beginning Monday, Jan. 18. 

Under the new schedule, Bill Hemmer Reports host Bill Hemmer will team with Dana Perino to host a two-hour edition of America’s Newsroom beginning at 9 a.m. At 11 a.m., Harris Faulkner will host a new show The Faulkner Focus, followed by her current news roundtable series Outnumbered at noon. 

At 1 p.m., network White House Correspondent John Roberts will join current America’s Newsroom host Sandra Smith for a new two-hour program, America Reports, while The Story, hosted by Martha MacCallum, will air at 3 p.m., followed by Your World with Neil Cavuto at 4 p.m. and The Five at 5 p.m.

Special Report With Bret Baier will remain in the 6 p.m. time slot, with a new series, Fox News Primetime, premiering at 7, where MacCallum's show is currently. The network will rotate a group of Fox News opinion hosts for the show before eventually settling on a permanent opinion host.

Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement that the new schedule “ensures Fox News Media will continue to deliver outstanding coverage for our viewers who depend on the most trusted names in the business.”

Fox News Channel has chosen Bill Hemmer to anchor the 3 p.m. news hour formerly helmed by Shepard Smith, who exited in October.

Bill Hemmer Reports will launch Jan. 20. In addition to anchoring that “hard news” hour, Hemmer will head up breaking news coverage for the network.

Hemmer's morning news co-anchoring duties with Sandra Smith on America’s Newsroom ( 9 a.m.-noon) will be handled by a rotation of journalists.

“Bill is an incredible newsman and his ability to cut to the heart of the story while humanizing major events has made him a standout talent in news," said Fox News Channel president and executive editor of FOX News Media Jay Wallace. "As we start gearing up for the 2020 election, we are thrilled to have him lead our news division through what will sure to be an eventful year.”

With a week left in the seemingly interminable 2016 election, reporters and industry watchers on the front lines of the often tawdry battle suggest that Trump v. Clinton may alter the face of American politics, and the way it’s covered, for years to come.

While Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have been scrutinized from every conceivable angle, it remains paradoxically possible that the electorate still doesn’t know where they stand on key issues. Exactly who’s at fault for that — the candidates, the journalists who cover them or the public that watches the journalists cover them — is a matter of opinion.

Bill Hemmer, co-anchor of Fox News Channel’s America’s Newsroom, said one could make a case that neither candidate has yet been fully vetted.

“That may be the story Nov. 9,” Hemmer said. “I don’t think we know how either one of them would govern. Generally speaking, we do not know their policy positions.”

Andrew Tyndall, editor of the news analysis-focused Tyndall Report, said 2008 ushered in the modern era of the personality-driven presidential campaign, with then-political wunderkind Barack Obama facing off against steely war hero John McCain. Tyndall believes that dynamic has dominated the 2016 bout.

“People say it’s a horse race,” Tyndall said. “But it’s Survivor, not Seabiscuit. It’s a reality TV race more than it’s a horse race.”

With their sheer tonnage of air time, the cable news networks have focused both on the personalities and on the less sexy issues. Jake Tapper, chief Washington correspondent at CNN, spoke of seeing a “real hunger” among the public for meaty discussions.

“There’s an appreciation for non-partisan questions for both Democrats and Republicans,” Tapper said. “It’s real and it’s appreciated by a great deal by viewers.”

Fox News Channel, which has utilized the format in the 5 p.m. hour, will launch a new one-hour weekday panel show, entitled Outnumbered in the noon hour later this month.

Beginning on April 28, Outnumbered, featuring an ensemble of four female panelists and one rotating male, will address top new headlines from all angles and perspectives. During each segment, the panelists will examine the top news of the hour, and deliberate the leading pop culture and relationship issues dominating the headlines that day.

Fox Report Weekend anchor Harris Faulkner and Fox Business Network’s Sandra Smith will serve as two of the rotating members who will lead the program’s news coverage. The solo male panelist will vary each day, sometimes serving as a notable figure in the national dialogue that week. Additional personalities to be featured include: co-hosts of The Five, Kimberly Guilfoyle and Andrea Tantaros along with FNC contributors Jedediah Bila, Katie Pavlich and Kirsten Powers. Each of the panelists will retain their respective roles on FNC and FBN.

In conjunction with the show’s debut, Happening Now, co-anchored by Jon Scott and Jenna Lee, will split into a pair of flanking one-hour news at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

America’s News Headquarters, hosted by Bill Hemmer, will remain in the 1 p.m. hour -- the time slot it has occupied temporarily since September -- until Outnumbered's arrival.

FNC presents The Five weekdays at 5 p.m.
