Samsung TV Plus, the consumer electronics maker’s free ad-supported streaming service, has added The Biggest Loser Channel.

The series, featuring contestants who compete to lose weight and win a cash prize, seem apropos at a time when viewers are settling into their New Year’s resolutions.

Samsung TV Plus is adding other seasonal content including Smart Snacking from Bon Appetit; Hungry–Start Fresh in 2023, five series focusing on topics including superfoods, healthy cooking and the local food movement; Gusto–Soup-er Sunday Stunt with chefs offering recipes for cold weather and Moonbug–Stay Healthy  in January.

Owned and operated channels on Samsung TV Plus will have added fresh content. The Movie Hub offers Tyler Perry’s The Family That Preys and Letters to Juliet and All Action channel is featuring The Cold Light of Day, Debug and The Infiltrator.

Samsung TV Plus offers nearly 250 channels focusing on news, sports, lifestyle and entertainment. ■

Warner Brothers Television Group said Monday it has completed its acquisition of the Dutch operations of TV production house Eyeworks in a deal valued at about $273 million.

Warner Brothers International Television Production first announced the deal in February and takes over all of Eyeworks’ business outside of the U.S. in 15 countries in Europe, South America, Australia and New Zealand.  The deal adds 13 new markets to Warner’s international stable of production companies and follows its 2010 acquisition of U. K. production giant Shed Media, and its 2011 acquisition of  BlazHoffski in The Netherlands and Belgium.

Eyeworks produces several top reality shows, including The Biggest Loser and Celebrity Splash.

“This is an exciting day for Warner Bros. International Television Production, as we grow our on-the-ground production operations by 13 territories,” executive vice president and head of Warner Brothers International Television  Production Ronald Goes said in a statement. “We’ve long admired the way that Eyeworks has been built into a global player in TV production, and we’re proud that today it becomes part of the Warner Bros. family.”
