Artificial intelligence is the theme for the upcoming season of Big Brother on CBS. Season 26 begins Wednesday, July 17, with a two-night premiere. 

“‘BB AI’ is taking over the House and the theme will deliver the most unpredictable season for Houseguests,” CBS teases. 

The show also streams live on Paramount Plus. 

“From summer camp, to tech, to the multiverse, Big Brother loves to put a twist on topical and pop culture themes,” said executive producers Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan. “This summer’s ‘BB AI’ theme promises to bring the fun, the comedy and the unexpected game play that is a hallmark of Big Brother.” 

Big Brother said bedrooms were “created” using the following “BB AI” prompts: HOH Room: “Create a refreshing retreat for the Head of Household;” Front Bedroom: “Create a futuristic bedroom for the year 2500, fit for five Houseguestsl;” Side Bedroom: “Create a fantasy fairy garden;” and Back Bedroom: “Create a sci-fi rocky planet setting.”

When the prompt was given to create the Have-Not Room, the producers said, “‘BB AI’ crashed and left only a wireframe skeleton bedroom.“

The cast for season 26 has not yet been announced.

CBS shared its summer premieres for series and specials, which includes Paramount Plus show Tulsa King debuting on broadcast Sunday, July 14. True-crime series The Real CSI: Miami is on Wednesday, June 26, season 26 of Big Brother begins Wednesday, July 17, and Let’s Make a Deal Primetime starts Wednesday, August 7. 

Summer specials include The 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on Friday, June 7, Greatest @Home Videos: Father’s Day Edition, hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, on Friday, June 14, and The 77th Annual Tony Awards on Sunday, June 16. 

Tulsa King has Sylvester Stallone as a New York mafia guy released from prison and exiled by his boss to set up shop in Tulsa. Season one will air on CBS this summer. Season two starts on Paramount Plus in the fall. 

With scripted production slowed by the strikes last summer, CBS aired drama Yellowstone starting in September 2023. Both Tulsa King and Yellowstone are produced by Taylor Sheridan. 

Big Brother has a two-night season premiere, on July 17 and 18. Julie Chen Moonves returns as host.

Jerry Bruckheimer and Anthony Zuiker are behind The Real CSI: Miami, featuring real life crime cases and the forensic science used to solve them. Zuiker created CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and he and Bruckheimer produced the show. 

Wayne Brady hosts Let’s Make a Deal Primetime.

Big Brother Reindeer Games premieres on CBS and Paramount Plus Monday, December 11. The spinoff was announced in the season 25 finale November 9. The episode saw the contestants Frankie Grande, Britney Haynes and Danielle Reyes “break in” to the Big Brother House, and inadvertently open the BB Holiday Universe. 

There will be six episodes. Nine former Big Brother players will take part. “Santa’s Elves” — Derek Xiao (season 23), Tiffany Mitchell (season 23) and Jordan Lloyd (seasons 11 and 13) — guide contestants through the competitions.  

Each episode features three competitions, culminating in “Santa’s Showdown”, which determines which player goes home. Four contestants make it to the finale and one walks away with $100,000. 

Reindeer Games is produced by Fly On The Wall Entertainment in association with Banijay Americas. Allison Grodner, Rich Meehan and Chris Roach are executive producers.

“Fly on The Wall is excited to bring a new competition series to the Big Brother Universe and get a chance to ring in the holidays with some of our most memorable houseguests,” said Grodner and Meehan.

Houseguests will be announced at a later date.  

The 16 houseguest contestants for season 25 of Big Brother have been revealed. They include a molecular biologist based in Houston, a flutist in New York, an exterminator in Connecticut and a Deaflympics gold medalist in Baton Rouge. The season begins with a live 90-minute premiere Wednesday, August 2. 

The contestants are America Lopez, a medical receptionist in Brooklyn; Blue Kim, a brand strategist in New York; Bowie Jane, an Australian lawyer and DJ in Los Angeles; Cameron Hardin, a stay-at-home father in Eastman, Georgia; Cory Wurtenberger, a college student from Weston, Florida; Felicia Cannon, a real estate agent in Kennesaw, Georgia; Hisam Goueli, a physician in Seattle; Izzy Gleicher, a professional flutist in New York; Jag Bains, a truck company owner in Omak, Washington; Jared Fields, an exterminator in Norwalk, Connecticut; Kirsten Elwin, a molecular biologist in Houston; Luke Valentine, an illustrator in Coral Springs, Florida; Matt Klotz, a Deaflympics gold medalist swimmer in Baton Rouge; Mecole Hayes, a political consultant in Upper Marlboro, Maryland; Red Utley, a sales rep in Gatlinburg, Tennessee; and Reilly Smedley, a bartender in Nashville.  

Big Brother follows a group of people living together in a house outfitted with 94 HD cameras and 113 microphones, recording their every move. Each week, someone is voted out,, with the last remaining houseguest receiving $750,000.

Beginning Sunday, August 6, the show will air Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

CBS celebrates Big Brother Wednesday, July 26, when the special Big Brother 25th Anniversary Celebration airs. CBS and Paramount Plus will both run the special, hosted by Nischelle Turner of Entertainment Tonight.

25th Anniversary Celebration features 24 seasons of archival footage and interviews with Big Brother host Julie Chen Moonves, winners Cody Calafiore, Taylor Hale, Derrick Levasseur, Jordan Lloyd, Xavier Prather and Rachel Reilly, and other houseguests, including Azah Awasum, Hannah Chaddha, Derek Frazier, Frankie Grande, Tiffany Mitchell, Janelle Pierzina, Danielle Reyes, Kaysar Ridha, Jeff Schroeder and Brendon Villegas.

The special looks at Big Brother highlights over the years, including “the showmances, biggest feuds and rivalries, shocking twists, historic houseguests and groundbreaking moments in reality TV history,” according to CBS. 

The end of the special will offer a sneak peek of the new season, which begins Wednesday, August 2.

Competition series Big Brother and The Challenge: USA premiere July 6 on CBS. Big Brother opens with a 90-minute episode, leading into 90 minutes of The Challenge: USA, the latter featuring past contestants from CBS reality shows, including Survivor, Big Brother, The Amazing Race and Love Island. 

CBS described The Challenge: USA as “one of the most unpredictable and demanding games of [contestants’] lives, living in a constant state of paranoia and unable to trust anyone but themselves.” The winner gets $500,000 and a spot on The Challenge: World Championship (working title), which will stream on Paramount Plus. 

After the season premiere, the show will air on Wednesdays. T.J. Lavin hosts. Julie Pizzi and Justin Booth are executive producers.  

MTV launched The Challenge in 1998, and it has had 37 seasons.

Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and Bunim/Murray Productions, the show leverages its popular franchises across Paramount’s global platforms, the company said.

Big Brother will be season 24. Fly on the Wall Entertainment and Endemol Shine North America produce. After the season starter, the show will air thursdays.

CBS said it has launched a multiplatform effort to generate donations for the American Red Cross.

Messages featuring talent from network shows--starting with Wednesday’s episode of Big Brother--seek to get viewers to give blood, time or money in support of the Red Cross' relief efforts.

Wednesday on Big Brother, houseguests work together to create emergency kits that the Red Cross distributes in disaster areas. During Thursday’s episode, a video featuring the John Legend song I Do will be introduced.

In Times Square, the network will run a video montage featuring CBS characters talking about why people should help make a difference. The theme of the video montage is “We Do It For...“

“There’s clearly never been a greater need for the life-saving efforts and blood of the American Red Cross,” said Mike Benson, president and chief marketing officer, CBS. “CBS is proud to partner with this tireless organization, and we hope that our campaign not only galvanizes people to donate to the Red Cross in some fashion during these particularly challenging times, but also inspires them to be involved for years to come.”

In the future, the campaign will include messages from other CBS talent from shows starting with Julian McMahon of FBI: Most Wanted and Daniela Ruah of NCIS: Los Angeles. Upcoming messages will come from stars of FBI, Young Sheldon, NCIS, The Equalizer, NCIS: Hawaii and FBI: International. Personalities from CBS Sports and CBS News will participate as well.

There will also be a segment dedicated to supporting the Red Cross effort during The Talk in October.

In December, the Red Cross effort will be promoted during the CBS Sports Classic College Basketball Tournament.

CBS stations and affiliates will get customizable on air and social content to support the campaign.

CBS employees with have monthly opportunities to volunteer, take part in blood dries and make donations that will be matched by the company.

Big Brother tallied a 1.1 and 1.2, up a tick from last week’s 1.1, and Star Trek: Discovery, borrowed from CBS All Access, went up a tenth to 0.3. 

On ABC, Celebrity Family Feud scored a 0.8 and Press Your Luck a 0.7, both up a tenth from last week. Match Game got a flat 0.5. 

Fox rated a 0.5/3. Election-themed puppet special Let’s Be Real, leading into and out of reruns, got a 0.5. 

NBC had a 0.4/3. The Wall and two hours of Dateline both got a flat 0.4. 

Univision scored a 0.3/2 and Telemundo a 0.2/2. Univision had Medicos at 0.3 and Imperio de Mentiras at 0.4. Dulce Ambicion got a 0.3. All three were level with last week. 

Telemundo had Exatlon Estados Unidos at 0.3 and Todo Por Mi Hija at 0.3, then Falsa Identidad at 0.2. All three were flat.

CBS debuts the 22nd season of Big Brother Aug. 5th. The two-hour “move-in premiere event,” in CBS’ words, features an all-star cast of past players. CBS will do three episodes a week. 

Cast will be announced later. It will be comprised of “winners, finalists, legends, memorable personalities and some of the best to never win the game,” according to CBS. 

Big Brother last did an all-star cast in 2006. The show debuted in 2000. 

Big Brother follows a group of people living in a house outfitted with 94 HD cameras and 113 microphones recording their every move for 24 days. Each week, someone is voted out. The last remaining houseguest gets $500,000.

CBS mentioned specific health and safety protocols for the production amidst the pandemic. Houseguests will quarantine prior to production and will be tested several times before entering the house. Once inside, they will be tested weekly during the season, and will not have contact with crew. A COVID-19 compliance officer will be on staff. 

The live show will not have a studio audience.  

HBO’s Game of Thrones season finale and MTV’s Video Music Awards special drew more than 8 million social media interactions Sunday night, according to Nielsen.

The Game of Thrones season seven finale drew a series record 4.1 million Facebook and Twitter interactions from more than 2.2 million unique users to top all television shows on Aug. 27, according to Nielsen’s daily social content ratings report.

On HBO, the episode generated a series record 12.1 million viewers, 13% above the previous record of 10.7 million viewers set two weeks ago.

The VMA Awards finished a close second, garnering 3.9 million interactions from 1.8 million social media users. CBS’ Big Brother. HBO’s Insecure and Showtime’s Twin Peaks: The Return rounded out the top five most social entertainment shows for the day.

NBC’s San Francisco 49ers-Minnesota Vikings NFL pre-season football telecast was drew the most social media interactions for a live sports telecast on Sunday, according to Nielsen.

Telemundo today said that the debut of Gran Hermano (Big Brother) has been set for Sunday, Jan. 10 at 8 p.m.ET/7 p.m. Central, hosted by Giselle Blondet. After concluding the auditions of over 5,000 men and women from the United States and Puerto Rico, a group of 14 strangers, seven men and seven women, have committed to living together in a house sealed off from the outside world, equipped with dozens of cameras and microphones recording their every move 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the NBCUniversal-owned Spanish-language network said in a release. Following the longstanding Big Brother formula, "this new home will become a sociological experiment, where emotions are magnified, creating stories of love, hate and friendship, as well as tension and arguments during a three-month period. Every week, housemates will nominate their least favorite contestant but the audience will vote and determine who will leave the house each week until the last house guest remains, winning a grand prize of $250,000."

During Gran Hermano, Telemundo will present an extended live programming schedule dedicated exclusively to the development of the reality show, nominations and elimination of the housemates. In addition to the Sunday airings, highlighting the best of each week and the last moments before participants are eliminated, there will be a daily recap at midnight ET/PT. On Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET/PT, the network will air a special  featuring the intimate life of each housemate before they are nominated for elimination. WWE’s pay-per-view event Battleground wrestled the top spot among the most social shows on Sunday, according to Nielsen’s Twitter TV Ratings report.

The PPV event, which was also streamed live on the pro wrestling outfit’s WWE Network OTT service, drew 292,000 Tweets last night that reached 1.9 million unique Twitter users, said Nielsen.

ABC’s Celebrity Family Feud game show reached 1.3 million unique users to finish second while Sunday’s episode of HBO’s True Detective drew a little over 1 million tweets to finish third. CBS’s Big Brother and Spike’s mini-series Tut rounded out the top five for the night.

ESPN’s third round coverage of the 2015 Open Championship golf tournament was the most social sports show of the day, generating 58,000 tweets and reaching 3.1 million unique Twitter users, said Nielsen.
