Season three of Awkwafina is Nora from Queens starts on Comedy Central Wednesday, April 26. Awkwafina is the creator, writer and star of the show, inspired by her growing up in Queens. 

BD Wong plays Nora’s father and Lori Tan Chinn her grandmother. Bowen Yang portrays her cousin Edmund. 

Season three sees Nora searching for meaning everywhere, from working at her neighborhood bodega to appearing in a reality competition show to Iceland, teases Comedy Central. “This season explores themes of identity and success, all while keeping up with the family we've grown to love: Grandma is anxious about getting older, Edmund has a taste of stardom as an actor and Wally contemplates some big life changes,” the network added. 

Jennifer Esposito is a recurring guest and Scott Adsit, Michael Bolton, Ronny Chieng, Janeane Garofalo, Gina Gershon, Ken Jeong, Frankie Muniz and Jai Rodriguez are among the guest stars. 

Awkwafina is Nora From Queens is created by Awkwafina and Teresa Hsiao and executive produced by Awkwafina, Teresa Hsiao, Sean Fogel, Peter Principato and Itay Reiss of Artists First. Andrew Lutin exec produces and Tara Power is executive in charge of production for MTV Entertainment Studios. ■

Season two of comedy Awkwafina is Nora From Queens premieres on Comedy Central Aug. 18. Two episodes will air on premiere night. There are 10 episodes in the new season. 

Awkwafina stars in the series that is based on her life, growing up in Queens. BD Wong plays her father, Lori Tan Chinn her grandmother, and Bowen Yang portrays her cousin. 

“Nora Lin leans on her family as she navigates life and young adulthood in outer borough-NYC,” said Comedy Central. 

Wong directs new episodes, as does Andrew McCarthy, who starred in St. Elmo’s Fire and Pretty in Pink. Bill Benz, Laura Murphy, Jordan Kim and Steven Tsuchida. 

Awkafina’s film work includes Crazy Rich Asians, Jumanji: The Next Level and The Farewell. 

Awkwafina and Teresa Hsiao created Awkafina is Nora From Queens. The series is  executive produced by Awkwafina, Karey Dornetto, Teresa Hsiao, Lucia Aniello, Peter Principato and Itay Reiss of Artists First. Justin Rosenblatt and Andrew Lutin executive produce for MTV Entertainment Studios and Tara Power is executive in charge of production.

CBS All Access’ Star Trek: Picard and Comedy Central’s Awkwafina is Nora from Queens highlight the new shows premiering on cable and streaming services this week.

Star Trek: Picard, which debuts Jan. 23, returns Patrick Stewart to the Star Trek universe as the series begins several decades after the Star Trek: The Next Generation series and films, according to the streaming service.

Comedy Central Tuesday announced it has renewed its original series Awkwafina is Nora from Queens prior to the series' debut on the network.

The series, which is based on the real-life childhood experiences of series star/executive producer Nora "Awkwafina" Lum, premieres on the network Jan. 22. 

The series also stars BD Wong, Lori Tan Chinn and Bowen Yang, according to the network.

Awkwafina earlier this month won a Golden Globes award for lead actress in a comedy or musical for her role in The Farewell, the first actress of Asian descent to win a Golden Globe award in a lead actress film category.
