Nickelodeon will continue with its expansion of the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise with the second season renewal of series spinoff The Patrick Star Show.

The 26-episode second season of the animated series will continue to follow a young Patrick Star, who hosts a variety show for the neighborhood from his bedroom, the network said. New episodes from season one of the series will continue to debut on Nickelodeon.

The Patrick Star Show features the voices of Bill Fagerbakke, Tom Wilson, Cree Summer, Jill Talley and Dana Snyder. 

The Patrick Show is one of two SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff series, following Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Year.

“This next season of The Patrick Star Show will embark upon even more imaginative, colorful and hilarious adventures, diving deeper into the Star family’s daily life and escapades,” said Claudia Spinelli, Nickelodeon Senior VP of Animation for Big Kids in a statement.  “For over 20 years, the beloved Patrick Star has provided humor to fans around the world, and we can’t wait to see what he does next.”

HBO Max has set a Nov. 4 premiere date for the second season of its adult animated series Gen:Lock, the streaming service said Thursday.

The futuristic series, which takes place 50 years in the future, continues the tale of an oppressive authoritarian force that threatens to conquer the world. The series stars Michael B. Jordan, along with Dakota Fanning, Maisie Williams, Golshifteh Farahani, G.K. Bowes, and David Tennant.

Jordan serves as executive producer for Gen:Lock along with Alana Mayo.

Disney Junior will say goodbye to its animated series Elena of Avalor with a series finale special on Aug. 23, the network said.

The series, inspired by diverse Latin cultures and folklore, debuted in 2016 and follows a teenager who has been learning what it takes to be a great leader by ruling her enchanted fairytale kingdom as crown princess until she is old enough to be queen, said Disney Junior.

The network will air new episodes of the series leading up to the finale beginning July 26, said officials. 

HBO Max has ordered a new animated series Young Love, based on characters portrayed in the Academy-Award-winning short film Hair Love.

The series, created by Matthew Cherry and Sony Pictures Animation, centers around the relationship between an African-American father, his daughter Zuri, and the most daunting task a father could ever come across – doing his daughter’s hair for the first time, according to HBO Max.

“Hair Love struck a chord that is still resonating deeply with audiences of all ages,” said Billy Wee, SVP, Original Animation, HBO Max in a statement. “Matthew and Sony Animation’s creative voices are a welcomed addition to the HBO Max family and we can’t wait to bring this joyous story to the world.”

The series will be executive produced by Blue Key Entertainment's Monica A. Young (Hair Love) along with Lion Forge Animation’s David Steward II and Carl Reed.

Disney Channel Wednesday dropped the first trailer for the second and final season of its animated series Star Wars Resistance, which debuts Oct. 6. 

The series, an offshoot of the popular Star Wars film franchise, takes place during the events of The Last Jedi leading up to The Rise of Skywalker, as series lead character Kaz and the team continue to fight against the threat of the First Order, culminating in an epic series finale, said network officials.

The series' second season will debut on Disney Channel and DisneyNOW, with subsequent airings on Disney XD, said the network. 

Nickelodeon is going back into its classics vault and greenlighting new episodes of its 90s animated series Rugrats, the network said Tuesday.

The series, which aired from 1991 to 2004, followed the world from the point of view of several babies. Nickelodeon will produce 26 new episodes of the series, with original creators Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó and Paul Germain returning to the TV series as executive producers.

In addition, Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures will produced a live-action theatrical film based on the Rugrats that will be released in 2020.

.The Rugrats revival follows Nick's decision to bring back 90s pre-school hit Blues Clues.
