The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning debuts on Bravo Thursday, August 17. Bravo will air three episodes, on August 17, 24 and 31. 

The show debuted on streaming sibling Peacock earlier this year. There are eight episodes.

Inspired by Margareta Magnusson’s book, Swedish Death Cleaning follows eight people at different stages of their lives as they are given the chance to sort out their home, life and relationships before it is too late. An organizer, a designer and a psychologist, all from Sweden and known as the Death Cleaners, come to the United States to help people reinvent themselves by facing their mortality and confronting the clutter that surrounds them.   

The first episode looks at Godfrey, who must clear his deceased parents’ things out of his basement. 

“Each story builds toward a physical overhaul of the home, as well as an emotional evolution, leaving us smiling with a lighter view of death and a more celebratory vision for the future,” Peacock said. 

The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning is created and produced by Scout Productions, along with Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions, and is co-produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio. 

Rolling Stone called the show “your new reality-TV addiction.” 

Decider described Swedish Death Cleaning as “funny” and “bold.”

Season two of Baking It, with Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph hosting and executive producing, debuts on Peacock Monday, December 12. There will be five hour-long, weekly episodes for the competition series.

The show comes from the creators of Making It, a craft competition series with Poehler and Nick Offerman hosting. Rudolph and Andy Samberg hosted the first season of Baking It last year, and executive produced with Poehler.

"A new batch of bakers compete in a series of thrilling and hilarious challenges designed by Amy and Maya themselves to test the bakers more than ever for the chance to win some serious money and the adoration of our beloved Baking It judges, the Grandmothers!" according to Peacock, which promises "explosions, implements of destruction, smashing cakes and more!"

December 12 also offers a holiday special, to air on NBC, with Poehler and Rudolph inviting some famous friends over to bake, compete and raise some dough for charity.

"This season's coziest cooking competition is Baking It: Season Two!" the hosts said in a statement. "This season has everything: The Grannies, crafty bakes, goofy songs about butter, cash prizes, BFFs, family, and did we mention butter? And, to make it even more exciting we'll be hosting this season together!"

Rudolph was a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 2000 to 2007. Her movies include Bridesmaids and Life of the Party. Poehler was on SNL 2001 to 2008 and starred in Parks and Recreation. She's a co-creator of Netflix's Russian Doll. 

Baking It is produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio in association with Paper Kite Productions and 3 Arts Entertainment. Poehler and Rudolph executive produce with Nicolle Yaron, Pip Wells, Kate Arend and Dave Becky. ■

Peacock has ordered the Amy Poehler unscripted series The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning. Based on a book by Margareta Magnusson, the show is what Peacock calls a “transformation series” featuring people who are at a crossroads and need to get their houses and lives in order. A Swedish “death cleaner” will help organize and demystify homes, lives and relationships, “allowing us to prepare for death while we enjoy life,” as Peacock put it. 

Scout Productions and Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions produces. 

Poehler will narrate.

The Swedish death cleaner will turn each home upside down as they uncover and undo decades of collecting. They liberate each person from the clutter in their lives, and allow them to pass on treasured mementos, and the deeply personal stories behind them, to loved ones. 

“We are so excited to work on such a life-affirming project with the genius creators at Scout,” Poehler said. “Swedish death cleaning reminds us to focus on what is truly important, and we couldn’t find a better team to take this journey with than Peacock and the incredible Scout Team.” 

The series is also co-produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio. Poehler and Kate Arend will executive produce with Scout Productions’ David Collins, Michael Williams, Rob Eric and Renata Lombardo. Author Margareta Magnusson will also executive produce alongside Jane Magnusson, Stephen M. Morrison, Faye Stapleton and Susanna Lea. ■

The second season of oddball comedy-drama Russian Doll begins on Netflix April 20. Natasha Lyonne, Leslye Headland and Amy Poehler created the show, which premiered in 2019. 

Lyonne plays Nadia, who dies at her birthday party and relives the night she died over and over and over. 

Charlie Barnett, Greta Lee and Yul Vazquez are also in the cast. 

Netflix announced the premiere date with a trailer on YouTube.

Lyonne was nominated for a best actress in a comedy Golden Globe in 2019. The show was up for a best comedy Emmy that same year.

All episodes are directed by Jamie Babbit, Headland and Lyonne.

Russian Doll is often compared to Groundhog Day. When the second season was announced in 2019, Lyonne said, “Same show, just weirder.” ■

Making It, the craft competition series from Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman, is back on NBC June 24. There are six episodes in season three.  

Eight makers take on an array of handmade projects, hoping to impress Poehler, Offerman and judges Simon Doonan and Dayna Isom Johnson. Jimmy DiResta is the wood shop master. 

Poehler and Offerman were on Parks and Recreation together. Poehler describes herself as a crafting novice while Offerman is a dedicated woodworker whose books include Good Clean Fun: Misadventures in Sawdust at Offerman Woodshop. 

Each episode consists of two projects that allow the makers to demonstrate their unique talents. Contestants include Blake McFarland, a retired baseball player, Kaviya Ravi, an Indian-American from Louisville, and Jessie Lamworth, who grew up on a Maryland farm. 

Poehler and Offerman host and executive produce. Also executive producing Making It are Nicolle Yaron, Dave Becky, Pip Wells and Kate Arend.

Amy Poehler movie Moxie premieres on Netflix March 3. The story of a girl from a small town who is inspired by her mother’s Riot Girl past and starts a feminist revolution in her high school. Moxie is adapted from a novel of the same name by Jennifer Mathieu. 

Hadley Robinson plays the girl. Marcia Gay Harden, Clark Gregg, Nico Hiraga, Alycia Pascual-Peña, Sydney Park, Anjelika Washington and Josephine Langford are also in the cast. 

Poehler directed Moxie and produces alongside Morgan Sackett and Kim Lessing for Paper Kite. Poehler previously directed the Netflix film Wine Country. She was a cast member on Saturday Night Live and on Parks and Recreation. Poehler co-created Netflix series Russian Doll and Fox animated series Duncanville. 

Netflix will debut the latest in the Wet Hot American Summer series Aug. 4.

Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later, from David Wain and Michael Showalter, will consist of eight episodes. 

Wain and Showalter were behind the 2001 cult-classic film, and the 2015 prequel, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, which had eight episodes on Netflix.

The film did not pop in terms of box office, but its soon-to-be-famous cast and campy humor made it a cult hit.

In the film, Bradley Cooper’s Ben character said to his Camp Firewood mates: "Let's all promise that in 10 years from today, we'll meet again, and we'll see what kind of people we've blossomed into."

Returning cast includes Amy Poehler, Chris Meloni, Chris Pine, David Hyde Pierce, Elizabeth Banks, Janeane Garofalo, Jason Schwartzman, Kristen Wiig, Michael Ian Black, Molly Shannon and Paul Rudd.

New cast members include Dax Shepard, Alyssa Milano and Adam Scott.

Hulu Tuesday announced a straight to series pickup for comedy series Difficult People.

The series, executively produced by Amy Poehler (Parks & Recreation) and Dave Becky (Louie), stars Julie Klausner (Billy on the Street) and Billy Eichner (Billy On The Street) as best friends living in New York City whose irreverent behavior leads to very awkward situations, said the OTT service.

The series is produced by Universal Cable Productions, marking the first series collaboration between Universal and Hulu.

“Amy Poehler, Billy Eichner, and Julie Klausner are a dream team of comedic possibilities,” said Craig Erwich, Senior Vice President and Head of Content, Hulu. “We look forward to bringing this hilarious view of the world to Hulu with our partners at Universal Cable Productions.”
