American Gods will not see a fourth season on Starz. The fantasy drama came from a Neil Gaiman novel. Fremantle produced American Gods. 

The premise of American Gods is, Shadow Moon is told his wife has been killed just before he gets out of prison. He meets con man Mr. Wednesday and becomes his driver and bodyguard. Shadow finds himself in a hidden fantasy world where magic exists. The New Gods battle against the Old Gods. 

Ricky Whittle played Shadow Moon. Ian McShane portrayed Mr. Wednesday. Emily Browning was Shadow’s wife Laura. Crispin Glover played Mr. World. 

The show premiered in 2017. Bryan Fuller and Michael Green were the original showrunners. Jesse Alexander was showrunner in season two and Charles “Chic” Eglee ran the show in season three. 

The first week of 2021 will feature the debut of CBS All Access crime drama Coyote and the return of fantasy drama American Gods. 

Coyote, which was initially scheduled to debut on Paramount Network, debuts on CBS All Access Jan. 7 and stars Michael Chiklis as a border patrol agent who finds himself working for the people he spent his career keeping out of America, said the streaming service.

Debuting Jan. 10 on Starz is the third season of American Gods, which stars Ricky Whittle and Ian McShane and chronicles a war brewing between the Old Gods of ancient mythological roots and the New Gods of modern technology, said the network.

Starz has given its blessing to a second season of fantasy drama series American Gods, the network said Thursday.

The series, which follows an epic battle between traditional Old Gods and New Gods, averaged a network series best 975,000 viewers (Live+SD) for the April 30 premiere and a network record 1.5 million viewers in Nielsen Live+7 ratings, per Starz. Overall the episode has garnered more than 5 million multiplatform viewers to-date, according to Starz.

The series is produced by FremantleMedia North America and executive-produced by Bryan Fuller, Michael Green, Craig Cegielski, Stefanie Berk, Adam Kane and Neil Gaiman.

“Bryan Fuller, Michael Green and Neil Gaiman have evolved the art form of television narratively, structurally and graphically with American Gods, and we’re thrilled to be working again with these artists as they continue to build the worlds and wars of the gods,” Carmi Zlotnik, president of programming for Starz, said in a release.

The WWE’s Sunday night pay-per-view event WWE Payback was the most talked about entertainment show on social media yesterday, according to Nielsen.

The event drew 518,000 Facebook and Twitter interactions from 187,000 unique users to top all April 30 shows, according to Nielsen’s Social Content ratings chart.

Bravo’s The Real Housewives Of Atlanta was second with 228,000 social media interactions, followed by Starz’s premiere of American Gods, ABC’s Once Upon A Time and National Geographic’s special LA 92, said network officials.

ABC’s telecast of game seven of the Utah Jazz-Los Angeles Clippers NBA Playoffs series was the most social live sports event for the day, drawing 883,000 interactions, according to Nielsen.
