Epix has renewed its original drama series Pennyworth for a second season, the pay service announced Wednesday.

The series, from Warner Horizon Scripted Television, follows Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth (played by Jack Bannon), a former British SAS soldier who goes to work with young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge), who has not yet become Bruce Wayne’s father, in 1960s London.

“Pennyworth has been a big hit for us, embraced by critics and fans alike,” saidMichael Wright, Epix president in a statement. “It was the highest-performing original series ever to premiere on Epix, more than doubling the viewership of the shows that came before it. We can’t wait to work with this phenomenal cast and creative team on another exciting season.”

The series also stars Emma Paetz (Gentleman Jack), Hainsley Lloyd Bennett (Eastenders), Ryan Fletcher (Outlander), Dorothy Atkinson (Mr. Turner, Topsy-Turvy), Ian Puleston-Davies (Coronation Street) and Polly Walker (Rome, Caprica).

Epix Friday released the first trailer for its DC Comics-themed drama series Pennyworth, which premieres later this summer.

The 10-episode series from Warner Horizon Scripted Television and based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger, follows Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon). Pennyworth is a former British SAS soldier in his 20s who forms a security company and goes to work with a young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge), who’s not yet Bruce’s father, in 1960s London, according to Epix.

The series also stars Paloma Faith, Jason Flemyng (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Ryan Fletcher (Outlander), Hainsley Lloyd Bennett (Eastenders), Emma Paetz (Gentleman Jack) and Polly Walker (The Mentalist, Rome).
