Adult Swim’s animated series My Adventures With Superman highlights the schedule of shows debuting in an abbreviated holiday week.

The DC-produced series debuts July 6 and follows a 20-something Clark Kent as he builds his secret identity as Superman while he explores his own mysterious origins, the network said.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s Adult Swim said My Adventures with Superman, a new animated series, will premiere July 6 at midnight.

The series, created by Warner Bros. Animation and DC, is built around Clark Kent, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen as 20-somethings starting their careers at the Daily Planet.

Season 1 will debut with two back-to-back episodes, followed by one new episode every Thursday. The new episodes will be rerun on Adult Swim on Friday and Saturdays and be available to stream on Max on Fridays.

My Adventures with Superman stars Jack Quaid as the voice of Clark Kent, Alice Lee as the voice of Lois Lane and Ishmel Sahid as the voice of Jimmy Olsen.

Sam Register serves as executive producer. Jake Wyatt and Brendan Clogher are on board as co-executive producers and Josie Campbell as co-producer. 

Adult Swim’s animated series Teenage Euthanasia returns with Season 2 on July 23 at midnight.

Season 2 features a host of big-name guest stars including Kieran Clukin and J Smith Cameron of Succession. (Both series stream on Max). Also guest starring are  Ann Dowd, Chris Redd, H. Jon Benjamin, Janelle James, Jinkx Monsoon, Lori Tan Chinn, Sophia Bush, Tim Heidecker and Ziwe Fumudoh.

The series is set in Florida and features the funeral home owning Fantasy family, including teenage Euthanasia, aka Annie.

“Teenage Euthanasia sees and celebrates the troubled teens, the bimbos, the weirdos, the death-positives, the crybabies, the un-showered, the voluntarily single mommies, and the men who are scared of baseball. We love you,” said series co-creators Alissa Nutting and Alyson Levy. 

The series stars Maria Bamford, Bebe Neuwirth, Jo Firestone and Tim Robinson.

Teenage Euthanasia is produced by PFFR and animated by Atomic Cartoons. Executive producers include creators Nutting and Levy as well as Lisa M. Thomas, Vernon Chatman, and John Lee, with Scott Adsit as co-executive producer and Jo Firestone as producer.

Adult Swim has renewed animated comedy series Royal Crackers days before its April 2 debut on the service.

The half-hour comedy series chronicles the exploits of the Hornsby family as they vie for control of their once-successful cracker company, Adult Swim said. 

Royal Crackers creator John Ruiz also lends his voice to the series, along with Andrew Santino, Jessica St. Clair, David Gborie, Maile Flanagan and Fred Tatasciore. 

“Television has done a great job exploring how families clash over the fate of oil, media or cattle empires, but until now, no one has had the courage to address the savory snack food industry,” Adult Swim and Cartoon Network president Michael Ouweleen said in a statement.

Royal Crackers is produced by Titmouse and executive produced by Ruiz and Seth Cohen. Adult Swim will premiere the first three episodes of the series April 2. ■ 

The first week of February will feature a number of new drama/mystery series debuting on cable and streaming services.

Netflix on February 3 will debut Murderville, a dramedy series starring Will Arnett as a police detective who in each episode investigates murder cases with a new celebrity partner. Guest stars for the six-episode series include Sharon Stone, Ken Jeong, and Conan O'Brien.

Prime Video on February 4 will launch Reacher, an eight-part mystery series that follows the exploits of retired military police officer Alan Ritchson. The series is based on the Jack Reacher book series by Lee Child. The Jack Reacher film franchise starred Tom Cruise.

Adult Swim said it will run its Adult Swim Festival as a virtual event streaming Nov. 12 and 13 on the Adult Swim YouTube Channel.

Last year’s virtual event drew 10 million views.

Panels at the event will feature Adult Swim classics like Rick and Morty, Squidbillies, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and upcoming new series Blade Runner: Black Lotus and Smiling Friends.

The festival will also feature performances by Lil Baby, Karol G with 21 Savage, Flying Lotus, Alessia Cara, Angel Olsen, Joe Pera, DAWN, Moor Mother and Jo Firestone.

Sponsors of the festival include Simple Mobile, Voodoo Ranger and Wrangler.

Festival merchandise is available globally on the Adult Swim Festival website and will include Adult Swim Festival T-shirts, zip-up sweatshirts, bomber jackets, Nalgene water bottles and corduroy hats, as well as limited edition Space Ghost Coast to Coast t-shirts. Visitors can also get a chance to win a custom Rick and Morty pinball machine.

WarnerMedia promoted Brian Robillard to assistant general manager and VP of business operations for its Kids & Family and Adult Swim units.

Robillard will also oversee a new music0strategy arm for the Kids, Young Adults and Classic unit.

Michael “Kiko” Akiko was hired to run the unit as executive director, music for kids, young adults and classic. Akiko, previously head of A&R for Universal Music Group Africa, reports to Robillard.

Robillard and Akiko will work with WaterTower Music, third-party labels and publishing groups to identify music strategies and opportunities for Cartoon Network and Adult Swim. Both executives will be based out of Burbank, California.

“In a dynamic and complex media landscape where audiences are consuming content in novel ways, Brian has hit the ground running to integrate our business operations across regions, brands and multiple platforms,” said Amy Friedman, head of kids & family programming at Warner Bros.

Robillard had been VP, business operations at Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios. He joined Cartoon Network in 2014 after holding digital and marketing jobs at Universal Music Group, Disney Music Group and Disney-ABC Television Group.

“Kiko will ensure that our brands and content work together seamlessly and strategically to take our musical footprint and businesses to the next level,” Robillard said. “Continuing to develop the next generation of performers, composers, and songwriters in our ecosystem is a top priority for this team.”

AT&T’s Adult Swim cable channel announced that its animated comedy series Teenage Euthanasia will have its premiere on Sept. 19.

The series, set in Florida, is about the Fantasy family, who own a funeral home. Trophy Fantasy, who ran away from home as a teenager after giving birth to a daughter, Euthanasia, returns 15 years later to be buried. She is reanimated by combination of a lightning strike and homemade embalming fluid, giving her a second chance at parenthood.

The cast includes Maria Bamford as the voice of Trophy, Jo Firestone as Ethanasia, Tim Robinson as Uncle Pete and Bebe Neuwirth as the grandmother baby.

The half-hour animated series is co-created by Alissa Nutting and Emmy-nominated producer, Alyson Levy. Teenage Euthanasia is produced by PFFR and animated by Augenblick Studios. Executive producers include Lisa M. Thomas, Vernon Chatman, and John Lee, with Scott Adsit as co-executive producer.

Adult Swim is the most viewed channel among young viewers 18 to 34. It is also available via HBO Max.

Adult Swim has ordered season three of animated comedy Tuca & Bertie. Ali Wong and Tiffany Haddish star in the series. 

Adult Swim grabbed the critically-acclaimed show for season two after it was cancelled at Netflix. The season started in June. 

Lisa Hanawalt created Tuca & Bertie, about a pair of best-friend birds. Haddish voices toucan Tuca and Wong portrays song thrush Bertie. 

Steven Yeun is also in the cast. 

Hanawalt, Haddish, Wong, Raphael Bob-Waksberg, Noel Bright and Steven A. Cohen executive produce Tuca & Bertie. 

The series is produced by Michael Eisner's The Tornante Company and the animation is done at ShadowMachine.

Fast food chain Wendy’s renewed its sponsorship deal with Adult Swim’s Rick & Morty.

As part of the deal, Wendy’s will be setting up a pop-up drive through restaurant--dubbed Morty’s--in Los Angeles to mark Global Rick and Morty Day on Sunday, when the animated series starts season five.

The menu will include a limited-edition Pickle Rick Pickle Frosty.

“We’re big fans of Rick and Morty and continuing another season with our partnership with entertainment powerhouse Adult Swim,” said Carl Loredo, chief marketing officer for Wendy’s. “We love finding authentic ways to connect with this passionate fanbase and are excited to extend the Rick and Morty experience into our menu, incredible content and great delivery deals all season long."

AT&T’s Adult Swim is in the movie business, giving a green light to original films based on three of its iconic titles: Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Metalocalypse and The Venture Bros.

The films will be released globally exclusively for 90 days on Blu-ray/DVD and sold via digital transactional video on demand and electronic sell-through, AT&T’s Warner Bros. unit said. After that, they will premiere on Warner Bros. streaming service HBO Max and cable network Adult Swim.

“Leveraging the power of WarnerMedia allows us to deliver original content to our amazingly dedicated and not-shy fans, while also giving our talented series creators an opportunity to tell stories in new and interesting ways,” said Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim.

The three titles were some of the first original productions to appear on Adult Swim. Aqua Teen Hunger Force had its debut in Sept. 2001, when Adult Swim launched. It aired for 11 seasons. Metalocalypse first aired on Adult Swim in 2003 and ran four seasons. The show’s fictional band Dethlok had an album on the Billboard chart in 2007. The Venture Bros. pilot appeared in 2003, followed by season one in 2004. Over 15 years it aired seven seasons and four specials, making it one of the channel’s longest-running series.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force is created by Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis and follows the strange everyday lives of three human-sized food products living in New Jersey.

The Venture Bros. is created, written and executive produced by Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer.

The new Metalocalypse movie is created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blancha. The movie soundtrack will be released on WaterTower Music.

AT&T’s WarnerMedia continued to consolidate, with Suzanna Makkos, executive VP of original comedy and adult animation for HBO Max, adding responsibility as programming head for Adult Swim.

Makkos will continue to report to Sarah Aubrey, HBO Max’s head of original content, and will also report to Michael Ouweleen, who became resident of Adult Swim last year.

“The adult animation boom is just starting, and by aligning our strengths and organizing as one, unified, best in class development team we are creating an unmatched, multiplatform destination for both creators and fans,” said Aubrey. “Adult Swim has created an iconoclastic adult animation brand, and that identity will not only be preserved, it will now be further fueled by HBO Max and Suzanna’s talented development leadership.”

Adult Swim’s development team, led by Walter Newman, who previously reported to Ouweleen, will report to Makkos.

Makkos joined WarnerMedia in 2019 after 20 years at Fox Broadcasting, where she rose to executive VP of comedy programming and development, and oversaw series including Brooklyn Nine-Nine and New Girl and animated shows like Bob’s Burgers and Great North.

Last year WarnerMedia consolidated its kids business, putting together Warner Bros. Animation with Cartoon Network under Tom Aschiem.

On cable, Adult Swim shares a channel with Cartoon Network, kicking in when the kids go to sleep with programming for viewers with a more mature sense of humor.

Season five of the animated hit Rick and Morty will have its premiere on June 20, and Adult Swim is looking to make a big deal out of it.

The AT&T-owned cable network is “officially” declaring June 20 as Rick and Morty Day, an occasion that will be marked all around the world.

Adult Swim will mark Rick and Morty Day with sneak peeks, behind the scenes footage and special surprises across TV, digital, and social.

For those unfamiliar, Rick is a sociopathic scientist who drags his timid grandson Morty into dangerous adventures across the universe. What could go wrong?

AT&T’s Adult Swim will premiere Birdgirl, a spinoff from the network’s classic Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, on April 4. 

The animated series stars Paget Brewster as Birdgirl, who heads up a misfit crime-fighting family that includes Sonia Denis, Keither Donohue, John Doman, Negrin Farsad, Tony Hale and Lorelei Ramirez.

Birdgirl is executive produced by Erik Richter and Christina Miller. The animation studio is Awesome, Inc. and produced by Adult Swim’s Williams Street Production.

AT&T’s Adult Swim said it picked up Teenage Euthanasia, an animated comedy series the network said is about death, family and accidental resurrection.

Teenage Euthanasia is currently in production and is expected to premiere in 2021. 

The series is co-created by Alissa Nutting and Alyson Levy. It is produced by PFFR and animated by Augenblick Studios.

The show is about the Fantasy family, who live in a mildly apocalyptic near-future and work at their Florida funeral home, Tender Endings. One character, who ran away from home, returns to the funeral home as a corpse after 15 years. She is resurrected by a bolt of lightening and gets a second chance at being part of the family, with a new set of powers from beyond the grave. 

Maria Bamford, Jo Firestone, Tim Robinson and Bebe Neuwirth provide the family members’ voices.

Adult Swim knows what side of the bread its butter is on, and the best way to help Rick & Morty fans get it there.

The AT&T network, along with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Digital Dream Labs, is rolling out a Butter Robot--invented by Rick in an episode of the animated hit. The robot’s only purpose is to deliver butter to Rick on the dinner table--a mission that causes the robot existential angst and made it a fan favorite.

The robot was unveiled to fans at the Adult Swim Festival.

“Our partnership with Digital Dream Labs gave us the opportunity to deliver the creative storytelling of Rick and Morty in an incredibly unexpected way that we believe will not only resonate with fans, but ultimately deepen their engagement with the property,” said Robert Oberschelp, senior VP, global brand product, Warner Bros. With its lifelike movement and trademark voice, the Butter Robot is sure to deliver hours of fun, all while its complex “emotion engine” creates unique interactions as it struggles with a need for purpose.

The limited Butter Robot will be available for purchase during the holidays. It can be purchased here for $147 during a pre-order window.

The Butter Robot’s voice is identical to the one in the show. It can interact with its surrounding or deliver phrases relayed through its mobile app’s text-to-voice feature.

The first week of November will feature a relatively light schedule of new scripted and reality shows.

Leading the new scripted show premieres is Showtime's Moonbase 8. The series, premiering Nov. 8, stars Fred Armisen and follows several astronauts as they attempt to qualify for their first lunar mission, said the network.

On the unscripted front, WeTV on Nov. 5 premieres the seventh season of its hit series, Braxton Family Values, which continues to follow the exploits of the musical Braxton sisters.

Because it remains part of the real world, the Adult Swim Festival will take place as a virtual event this year on the AT&T network’s YouTube channel on Nov. 13 and 14.

The festival will feature musical performances and online meet and greets with the people who create popular Adult Swim shows. And there will be exclusive festival merch available, including face masks and water bottles.

The early lineup of musical performers include Robyn Presents Club Domo and Mastadon. 

Talent from Rick and Morty and The Eric Andre Show will appear online.

There will be a world exclusive premiere of  Run the Jewels’ X Cyberpunk 2077 music video.

And there will be sponsors, including Pringles, Miracle Seltzer, Wrangler and Wendy’s. 

Pringles will be flavor stacking chips with Nick Gibbons of As Seen on Adult Swim and offering fans a chance to win Rick and Morty Pringles; Wrangler will be offering Rick and Morty merchandise based on the Season 4 finale and Wendy’s will be giving away prizes will touting its new breakfast lineup.

AT&T’s Cartoon Network and Crunchyroll units said they are teaming up to return the anime block Toonami to Latin America starting Aug. 31.

Starting out, the block will run Monday through Friday from midnight to 1 a.m. and feature Dragon Ball Super and Mob Psycho 100. Each series will be dubbed into Spanish and Portuguese.

Cartoon and Crunchyroll are working together to create the original series Fena: Pirate Princess, which will air in 2021, Crunchyroll and Adult Swim are also teaming up for Blade Runner -- Black Lotus.

“The team at Cartoon Network have been incredible partners in helping us grow the love of anime around and their Toonami block has been the premiere television destination for the anime community,” said Brady McCollum, head of global operations and international, Crunchyroll. “By powering Toonami’s return to Latin America with series curated by Crunchyroll, we can’t wait to create even more fans of the medium we love.”

AT&T is reportedly in talk to sell Crunchyroll to Sony.

The first week of August offers the premieres of new scripted shows from streaming services Quibi and CBS All Access along with several new reality shows.

Quibi on Aug. 3 will debut a new series version of the classic television series The Fugitive starring Keifer Sutherland and Boyd Holbrook, while iconic sci-fi series Star Trek gets its first animated treatment as CBS Access debuts Star Trek: Lower Decks on Aug. 6. Peacock jumps into the comedy crime genre with its new series Hitmen, premiering Aug. 6. 

On the unscripted front, Lifetime debuts it’s anticipated docu series Surviving Jeffrey Epstein on Aug. 9.

Adult Swim said it is teaming up with AT&T sister company Crunchyroll to produce an original anime series Fena: Pirate Princess.

The show is expected to air as part of Adult Swim’s Toonami black and stream in Crunchyroll in 2021. 

Last year, Adult Swim and Crunchyroll expanded their programming partnership and recently announced plans to make Uzumaki and Blade Runner: Black Lotus. 

“I’m thrilled to be able to announce our next co-produced anime series with our partners at Crunchyroll and bring Nakazawa’s unique vision to life,” said Jason DeMarco, senior VP/creative director on-air for Adult Swim. “I hope you come to love these characters as much as I do.”

Fena: Pirate Princess is a 12 episode original anime series that tells the tale of a young orphan girl who aims to forge a new identity, free of bondage, and search for a place where she can truly belong.

“The global anime community is going to love adventuring alongside Fena in this new series setting sail next year,” said Sarah Victor, head of development, Crunchyroll. “We’re delighted to be working alongside Adult Swim to bring this new series to life.”

Fena: Pirate Princess, directed by Kazuto Nakazawa and with animation by Production IG, will be an Adult Swim and Crunchyroll Production.

Cartoon Network veteran Michael Ouweleen has been named president of Adult Swim, a network he helped launch.

With AT&T’s kids business in management flux, Ouweleen is also serving as head of the Warner Bros. Kids, Young Adults and Classics Division until Tom Ascheim arrives from Disney’s Freeform to take over those responsibilities this summer.

Ouweleen took on added responsibilities after Christina Miller left in November. He will report to Ascheim.

At Adult Swim, Ouweleen will be responsible for content planning, development, windowing, marketing and creative. He’ll also oversee linear programming, streaming, digital products, live events and mobile games related to Adult Swim shows, characters and other IP.

“It’s fitting that Michael has been named head of Adult Swim as he was one of the platform’s founders,” said Anne Sarnoff, CEO of Warner Bros. “He’s got animated blood running through his veins, and his humor and comedic sensibilities are a big part of Adult Swim’s success. This promotion is most deserved and will help us strategically grow this crucial part of our young adult business.”

Ouweleen has been with Cartoon Network for more than 20 years, holding senior content and brand positions and helping to launch Adult Swim and Boomerang.

He co-created one of Adult Swim’s first shows, Harvey Birdman, Attorney-at-Law and will continue as executive producer of its follow-up series Birdgirl.

Before joining Cartoon Network, Ouweleen worked in advertising, getting his first job by winning a writing contest at J. Walter Thompson.

HBO's fantasy series His Dark Materials and the return of Showtime's Shameless highlight  shows making their debuts during the week of Nov. 4. 

His Dark Materials, debuting Nov. 4, is based on the novel series of the same name by Phillip Pullman and follows a young woman from another world who --on a quest to find her kidnapped friend -- encounters extraordinary beings and dangerous secrets, according to HBO.

Also this week, Showtime's Emmy-winning comedy series Shameless, starring William H. Macy, will mark its 10th season premiere on Nov. 10.

Upstart streaming service HBO Max has ordered two new seasons of the Aaron McGruder-produced animated series The Boondocks.

The series, which ran for four seasons on Adult Swim from 2005 to 2014, will return on HBO Max in Fall 2020 with 24 episodes and a 50-minute special, according to the service. All 55 episodes of the original Boondocks series will also be available on the service, which will launch in 2020.

Based on the comic strip created by McGruder, The Boondocks follow the adventures of self-proclaimed “Civil Rights Legend” Robert “Granddad” Freeman, and his two grandsons Huey and Riley. According to the network, the three move to suburban Maryland only to see it taken over by the “tyrannical Uncle Ruckus and his bizarre neo-fascist regime.”

McGruder will return to produce the series after leaving the original show in its fourth season.

“The Boondocks was a revolutionary series that sparked conversations on hot button issues and brought dark subjects into the light with episodes like ‘The Trial of Robert Kelly’, ‘The Fundraiser’ and ‘The Story of Gangstalicious’,” said Kevin Reilly, chief content officer, HBO Max and president, TBS, TNT and truTV in a statement. “Aaron is a gifted visionary whose unique style of storytelling is a welcome voice and we are elated The Freemans are making their thugnificent comeback on HBO Max.”

TNT’s medical-themed reality series Chasing The Cure tops the list of new series debuting during the week of Aug. 5 to Aug. 11.

The live series, hosted by Ann Curry, seeks to help people who suffer from undiagnosed, misdiagnosed or uncured medical mysteries by linking patients with medical experts to help find answers, according to network officials.

On the returning series front, HBO will will bring back its freshman drama series Succession for its sophomore campaign on Aug. 11.

Showtime’s The Loudest Voice leads the list of new shows premiering this week.

The series, based on Gabriel Sherman’s best-selling book of the same name, follows the rise and fall of former Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes. The series debuts June 30.

Also on the docket is the June 24 premiere of the third and final season of FX’s Marvel Comics-themed scripted series Legion, which stars Dan Stevens.

WarnerMedia divisions Crunchyroll and Adult Swim are teaming with Alcon Television Group to produce a half-hour series based on the Blade Runner science fiction film franchise.

Blade Runner—Black Lotus will feature 13 half-hour episodes, produced by animation studio Sola Digital Arts. Kenji Kamiyama, best known for his work on “Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex,” will direct all episodes of the premiere season.

The series will be based on the 2017 film sequel Blade Runner: 2049, starring Ryan Gosling.

Adult Swim will have worldwide rights to the show, excluding Asia, to distributed English dubbed versions of the series. The cable network will run the series on its popular anime programming block, Toonami. Anime-focused SVOD platform Crunchyroll, meanwhile, will have worldwide streaming rights.

The producers did not express a premiere date. 

ESPN rode the return of its Monday Night Football franchise to a first-place finish on the weekly primetime cable ratings charts.

ESPN averaged 2.8 million viewers during the week of Sept. 11 to Sept. 17 to best all cable networks, according to Nielsen. Fox News Channel was second with 2.1 million viewers, followed by MSNBC’s 1.6 million watchers and USA Network’s 1.4 million viewers. 

HGTV (1.3 million viewers), NFL Network (1.2 million), TBS (1.1 million) and History, CNN and Investigation Discovery (1 million) comprised the rest of the top 10 most watched cable networks of the week. 

Fox News Channel regained the top weekly ratings spot on a 24-hour basis after relinquishing it to The Weather Channel last week, with Nickelodeon, ESPN, MSNBC and Adult Swim following close behind.

Adult Swim was the most watched network among adults 18-49 on a 24-hour basis, while ESPN scored best with the demo in primetime during the week.

After a dominant summer ratings performance, Fox News Channel remained at the top of the weekly ratings charts heading into September.

Fox News finished as the most-watched cable network in primetime for the 15th straight week, averaging 2.1 million viewers during the week of Aug. 28 to Sept. 3, according to Nielsen.

MSNBC finished second for the week with 1.8 million viewers, followed by ESPN’s 1.7 million viewers, USA’s 1.5 million viewers and HGTV’s 1.3 million watchers, said Nielsen.

TBS (1.2 million viewers), History (1.1 million), CNN and Investigation Discovery (1 million) and Disney Channel (921, 000) rounded out the top 10 most watched networks for the week. 

Fox slayed cable networks on a 24-hour basis for the 35th consecutive week, besting in order Nickelodeon, MSNBC, CNN and ESPN.

The return of college football helped ESPN finish first for the week in primetime among adults 18-49, while Adult Swim was the most watched network in the demo on a total day basis, said Nielsen.

Fox News Channel last week returned to top of the weekly primetime ratings among cable networks, according to Nielsen.

Fox News averaged 2.3 million viewers to finish first during the week of May 22 to May 28, unseating NBA playoffs-infused TNT, which finished second with 2 million viewers, Nielsen said. 

MSNBC finished third with 1.6 million viewers, followed by USA Network and HGTV, both tied with 1.3 million viewers.

TBS and ESPN tied for sixth with 1.2 million viewers each, followed by CNN and History (tied with 1 million viewers), and NBCSN (927,000 watchers.) 

Fox News was also the most watched cable network on a 24-hour basis for the 21st straight week, besting Nickelodeon, MSNBC, CNN and Adult Swim.

TNT was the most watched network among adults 18-49 in primetime as well as across female demos 18-49, 25-54 and 18-34, according to Nielsen.

TNT and Fox News battled to a cable weekly primetime ratings tie last week, Nielsen reported Tuesday.

Both Fox News and TNT averaged 2.3 million viewers during the week of April 24 to April 30, with ESPN finishing third with 1.9 million viewers, according to Nielsen. 

MSNBC, HGTV, and USA Network all finished tied for fourth with 1.4 million viewers, followed by TBS with 1.2 million watchers. Discovery Channel (1.1 million), along with Investigation Discovery, History and Disney Channel (all tied with 1 million viewers) rounded out the top 10, said Nielsen.

Fox News notched its 17th consecutive total day ratings win, besting Nickelodeon, TNT, HGTV and Adult Swim respectively, said Nielsen.

TNT was the most watched cable network among adults 18-49, while Adult Swim was the top choice among the demo on a 24-hour basis.

Turner will offer apps for its various networks on Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Roku and Google Chromecast, the company announced Wednesday prior to its upfront presentation.

The rollout will begin in June with the TBS and TNT apps launching on the platforms, followed by its additional brands later in the year, according to company officials.

On air, Turner said it will launch 13,000 hours of original programming over the next year across its networks including TBS, TNT, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, CNN, HLN and truTV. 

New shows from TNT include Will, a new drama series about the wild younger days of William Shakespeare, and a pilot order for Civil, a drama about a second civil war in the United States.

CNN will launch over the next few months Soundtracks: Songs That Made History (working title), The History of Comedy and The Nineties, said network officials.

Adult Swim has ordered a pilot for a new series from Childrens Hospital creator and star Rob Corddry, while truTV's slate of newly greenlit series includes Jon Glaser Loves Gear, Greatest Ever and Lifescaping (working title), as well as its feature-length documentary The Problem With Apu (working title) and an-all new Impractical Jokers live special.

On the digital front, the network has tapped Conan O’Brien’s Team Coco, to create Team Coco Digital Studios, which will collaborate with brands to deliver original, social-first content, said network officials.

Adult Swim is aiming at its millennial audience with the development of new original series that serve both linear TV and digital platform viewers, the network said Thursday in advance of its May 18 upfront presentation.

Adult Swim has greenlit several new on-air shows, including a new Robot Chicken special -- Robot Chicken: The Walking Dead Special -- as well asMillion Dollar Extreme: World Peace, a live action series that follows the exploits of sketch comedy troupe Million Dollar Extreme; Brad Belman’s Dinner in America, which follows comedian Belman as he explores race relations across the country; a new pilot project from Dan Harmon dubbed Art Prison; and the return of classic Cartoon Network series Samurai Jack, network officials said

On the digital side, Adult Swim will launch several weekday shows including Stupid Morning Bullshit, Williams Street Swap Shop, Call of Karaoke and Development Meeting, the network said.

“Adult Swim is a one of a kind destination that simply knows its audience,” said Christina Miller, president and general manager, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang in a statement. “Mike Lazzo and his team have always found new and interesting ways to produce and distribute content that can’t be found anywhere else.”

From the safe confines of his home, he throws to various "educational" vignettes: puppets, animation, stop motion, spoken word and mixed medium elements that all blend together into one half-hour special… that is NOT for kids. Mr. Neighbor's House was created by Huskey, Jason Mantzoukas (Childrens Hospital, The League), and Jesse Falcon, who also serve as executive producers with Rob Corddry (Childrens Hospital, Hot Tub Time Machine).

Dream Corp, LLC

Dream Corp, LLC is an absurd workplace comedy set in a neglected dream therapy facility. Each week, viewers will watch as a rotating cast of desperate patients have their dreams recorded and analyzed by Dream Corp's absent-minded professor, Dr. Roberts (Jon Gries), and his team of unremarkable scientists. Dream Corp, LLC is created by Daniel Stessen (The Gold Sparrow) and executive-produced by alums of both American and British versions of The Office, John Krasinski and Stephen Merchant, as well as Krasinski's Sunday Night partner Allyson Seeger.

Brad Neely's Harg Nallin' Sclopio Peepio

A new quarter-hour animated sketch show created by Brad Neely (China, IL), Harg Nallin' Sclopio Peepio features a collection of frenetic one-off bits, shorts and songs, all filtered through Neely's signature visual style. Beware however, as this show hates you. Neely and Daniel Weidenfeld serve as executive producers, with Dave Newberg as co-executive producer and Titmouse, Inc. producing.

Decker: Unclassified

A successful web series and an action-packed powerhouse, Decker: Unclassified follows Agent Jack Decker as he subverts terrorist plots against his beloved America. Joined by ally and master code breaker Agent Jonathan Kington, the two navigate evils both foreign and domestic threatening a once great nation. The series was created by and stars Tim Heidecker and Gregg Turkington, and is produced by Abso Lutely Productions.

FLCL

Created in 2000, FLCL told the tale of Naota, a 12-year-old boy who met a woman that would forever change his life…whether he liked it or not. Sixteen years later, Adult Swim and legendary animation studio Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell) are creating two new six-episode seasons to continue the tale, which will premiere in Adult Swim's Toonami block. In the new season of FLCL, many years have passed since Naota and Haruhara Haruko shared their adventure together. Meanwhile, the war between the two entities known as Medical Mechanica and Fraternity rages across the galaxy. Enter Hidomi, a young teenaged girl who believes there is nothing amazing to expect from her average life, until one day a new teacher named Haruko arrives at her school. Soon enough, Medical Mechanica is attacking her town and Hidomi discovers a secret within her that could save everyone, a secret that only Haruko can unlock. Back for the new season is FLCL series creator Kazuya Tsurumaki, serving as supervisor with director Hideto Iwai (Last Dinner).

This quarter-hour animated pilot follows a wolf who carries a laser on his back and believes that love has no limit, that wearing do-rags gives you power and that Gawd is a lie. It was created by Henry Bonsu and written/executive-produced by Bonsu and Daniel Weidenfeld (China, IL).

Chuck Deuce

A half-hour animated masterpiece written by Lars Kensethk, Chuck Deuce is about a Northern California slacktivist/surfer who paddles out to carve mavericks, when a giant wave crushes him. Three weeks later, he walks ashore with no idea where he's been, how he survived, or why his brain is now ravaged by hallucinations – everything from conjoined CIA agents, talking sex dolls, and sock puppet headed freaks. Like his herpes, Chuck ignores it and returns to his daily grind of violating nudity bans, protesting decency laws and skirting home-yak-milking statutes in his native Santa Cruz. But the question persists, what happened to Chuck out there... and is it really over? Chuck Deuce is executive produced by creator Chioke 'Stretch' McCoy and Matt Iles, with Jenn Tolman serving as producer.

Adult Swim today that new episodes of classic animated series Samurai Jack, from producer Genndy Tartakovsky (Dexter's Laboratory) are in the works at Cartoon Network Studios in Los Angeles and will debut on Adult Swim's Toonami block in 2016.

The announcement -- via a 5-second video on YouTube -- is racking up views and comments. Samurai Jack also became a top trend on Twitter.

The ornately animated show, about a Japanese warrior who was transported into the future where he continued to battle his wizard foe, Aku, debuted in August 2001. It ran for 52 episodes before ending, after four seasons, in 2004, according to reports and Wikipedia.

Fox News Channel emerged as the most watched basic cable network in primetime last week, according to Nielsen.

Fox News averaged 1.7 million viewers, besting Disney Channel, HGTV and USA’s 1.6 million tally each for top honors during the week of July 13-19, according to Nielsen.

TNT finished fifth with 1.5 million, followed by Discovery, ESPN and History, all with 1.4 million watchers. TBS (1.3 million viewers) and FX (1.1 million) rounded out the top 10.

Disney Channel was the top network on a total day basis, with Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Fox News following closely behind.

Among advertiser-coveted adult 18-49 viewers, ESPN was the most watched network in primetime for the week, while Adult Swim was tops on a 24-hour basis.

ESPN’s live coverage of Major League Baseball’s Home Run Derby was the most-watched show for the week on cable, said Nielsen.

The Disney Channel was cable’s big ratings winner in June, topping both the primetime and total day audience charts during the first month of summer ratings.

The kids-targeted service, bolstered by the month’s most watched original cable movie Teen Beach 2, averaged 1.8 million viewers in primetime during the period of June 1 to June 28, according to Nielsen.

The network also finished first among cable networks on a total day basis, averaging 1.3 million viewers, according to Nielsen.

USA Network finished second in primetime with 1.7 million viewers, followed by HGTV and TNT, which tied for third with 1.6 million viewers. Fox News Channel was fifth with 1.5 million viewers, followed by a tie for sixth between History, Discovery and TBS, each averaging 1.4 million viewers. Food Network (1.1 million viewers), ESPN, Syfy and Adult Swim (tied with 1 million viewers) rounded out the top 10.

On the total day front, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Adult Swim tied for second behind Disney with 1.1 million viewers.

USA was the top choice among adult 18-49 viewers in primetime, with Adult Swim finishing first among the demo on a 24-hour basis, according to Nielsen.

For the second week in a row USA and HGTV finished cable’s weekly ratings race ended in a virtual tie, according to Nielsen.

USA Network and HGTV each drew 1.6 million viewers during the week of June 8 to June 14 to top all cable networks, said Nielsen. USA, HGTV, Disney Channel and Fox News all tied for the top spot last week, which officially ushered in the summer ratings season.

Disney Channel finished third with 1.5 million viewers, followed by Fox News Network and TNT, which finished in a tie with 1.4 million viewers.

TBS and History finished in a tie for sixth, followed by Discovery (1.2 million viewers).  NBC Sports Network, on the strength of its NHL Stanley Cup finals coverage, skated to a tie with Syfy (both with 1.1 million viewers) to round out the top 10.  

Disney Channel was the top choice for viewers on a 24-hour basis, averaging 1.2 million viewers. Fellow kids-and young adult-targeted networks Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Nickelodeon tied for second with 1.1 million watchers.

HBO’s Game Of Thrones season five finale was the most watched show during the week, averaging 8.1 million viewers. Live sports events and sports entertainment programming from NBCSN, USA and Fox Sports 1 held seven of the top 10 positions among the most watched shows of the week, according to Nielsen.

Adult Swim has greenlit a seventh season of its hit live-action comedy Childrens Hospital, the network said Tuesday.

The series, executively produced by Rob Corddry, follows the antics of a group of doctors working in a children’s hospital, said network officials.

“I'm happy,” said Corddry in a statement. “After our season six cliff hanger, people will be dying for us to turn our backs on the notion of series continuity even more.”

AMC’s Mad Men ended its eight-year run Sunday with a final episode that drew 3.3 million viewers.

The Emmy-Award series drew its third biggest audience ever with its May 17 finale, which also drew 1.4 million adults 18-49, according to Nielsen.

The finale ranked among the top 20 most watched shows for the week of May 11 to May 17, according to Nielsen. Overall TNT finished as the most watched network during the period, averaging 2.78 million viewers. ESPN was second with 2.15 million viewers, followed by USA Network with 1.73 million watchers and Disney Channel with 1.63 million viewers.

Fox News (1.54 million viewers), TBS (1.48 million); HGTV (1.31 million), History (1.20 million) and Discovery Channel (1.10 million) rounded out the top 10.

Disney Channel barely beat out TNT for the top spot among cable networks on a 24-hour basis, averaging 1.11 million compared to 1.10 million for the drama network. USA, Nickelodeon, and Adult Swim finished closely behind.

Adult Swim will look to bolster its already strong appeal to young adults with more than 30 new and returning shows, the network announced in advance of its upfront presentation Wednesday evening (May 13).

"Adult Swim has always been known as a place for taking risks and for great talent to try interesting and unique things," said Christina Miller, president and general manager, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang in a statement. "Mike [Lazzo] and his team continue to raise the bar in knowing what the Adult Swim fan wants, and this new slate of original programming adds to our growing line-up of primetime comedies."

Among the new shows on the docket are a new comedy pilot starring Jason Alexander, as well as Brad Neeley-helmed animated series TV Sucks, a new miniseries from Jon Glaser, and live-action comedy specials from Brett Gelman and Jon Daly, network officials said.
